That patented dried milk protein concentrate is believed to help manage inflammatory conditions long term, and I have found that this product will often effectively reduce the need for cortisone or non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs that may have side effects in dogs. I often find this all natural product increases normal activity and wellness and I have used it in chronic inflammatory conditions of the skin, respiratory and digestive tract in both dogs and cats. I have seen no side effects when using this product in dogs and give the product an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5. As I mentioned under my product review for Duralactin for dogs, Duralactin for cats is wonderful nondrug alternative choice for treating various inflammatory conditions of the skin, respiratory and digestive tract. In many cases I may often use this product as an alternative to cortisone and non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs for these conditions in our cats, which will often cut down on unwanted side effects. The patented dried milk protein concentrate is the main effective ingredient. Some cats may be sensitive to milk proteins and/or carbohydrates. If vomiting or diarrhea occurs, the product should be discontinued due to a likely allergic reaction. I will often use promotion in conjunction with the antioxidant proanthozone, which I often find enhances the effects or both products in reducing joint inflammation and improving mobility. When used regularly, promotion provides nutrients needed for joints to remain healthy, as well as being a potent antioxidant. It is easily crumbled and mixed with food and I have found it highly palatable for most dogs with no side effects seen in my experience. I have found it both helpful in older pets with increasing stiffness and spinal or joint arthritis, but also helpful in those pets recovering from surgeries. Compared to other products on the market it is quite cost effective with its synergistic combination of glucosamine and chondroitan sulfate and MSM. While relief is sometimes seen very quickly, more commonly it takes several weeks to see results with a nutritional supplement like this. I also find that it works best when used in conjunction with other nutritional supplements for the joints such as the antioxidant proanthozone, as well as fatty acids like be well from 1800petmeds. The only disadvantages I have seen with use of this product in my experience is occasional diarrhea in sensitive pets, and even more rarely problems with sugar regulation in diabetic animals.
