Rated 1 out of 5 by from Greasy It’s like putting motor oil on his back. Stays very greasy for days. They did credit what’s left.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn’t work We thought we’d try this on recommendation from our vet after the fleas in our area became resistant to Frontline. Unfortunately, Vectra had even less effect. Both dogs are miserable, but the fleas are doing just fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stay away Applied the application on my dog. Within 20 minutes started acting abnormal. Started running around and jerking his hind legs drinking a lot of water. After 1 and half hours I put him a bath to wash off product. Helplessly watching my poor dog not knowing what else to do. Don’t use product!! Shame on my vet to sale this product. My dog is a part of our family. I wouldn’t add a star !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best there is...period I first started using Vectra 3D (the one that goes up to 20lbs) in 2015 or 2016 as it was vet recommended. I used to use Frontline but my dogs would still get ticks w/ Frontline. It got to a point where i had a couple vet visits a month just to remove a tick. My dogs are mostly indoor dogs and i live in the country. My house is clean. My dogs would pick up the ticks from when i’d walk them on the road nearby. Let’s just say i’m experienced w/ tick removal now. My vet recommended it to me and he carried it. When i started using it back then, both my dogs NEVER had a tick again! I even tested to see how good it was, walking them in areas i wouldn’t normally allow them to go into, like high grass. Result - still no ticks. They’ve never had fleas or heart worm - knock on wood. It has been the best and most effective treatment i’ve ever used and i have never used nor wanted to use anything else. I ended up having to switch vets and the vet i’m with now doesn’t offer it. I’m glad to be able to get it off 1800petmeds and at a great price too. The vets aren’t exactly cheap w/ vectra but it’s worth the cost if it keeps the nasty critters off your dog and your pocket book from a vet visit. It’s so effective i will never use anything else nor do i want to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The MOST Effective We have been battling stubborn Georgia fleas off and on for 7 months. We have tried every product on the market, vacuuming and flea combing daily, and nothing has gotten them even slightly under control. We were pretty frustrated and desperate, as our dog has severe FAD and was chewing off all of her hair. Other products would work very briefly, but once our (SUPPOSED to be indoor) cat would escape for a run outside, he'd bring a whole new batch of fleas in. I saw Vectra here and read reviews comparing it to Frontline, which wasn't working at all for us, and decided to give it a shot. Within 6 hours, the fleas I combed off my pets were slow and dying, and by the next morning, there were no live fleas in sight on the pets. It took about 3 more days of thorough vacuuming and combing to completely eradicate the flea problem in our home. I am so relieved, and I know my pets are too. It's been about 2 weeks since application and there are still no signs of fleas. My dog has finally stopped gnawing and her hair is growing back. I highly recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best thing I have found !!! Our dog was a rescue the rescue uses Vectra on the Dogs so when we adopted him we went ahead bought a 6 month supply of Vectra . About 3 months ago we switched to another brand because my vet does not carry Vectra. Let me tell you it was the worst mistake I ever made . My poor dog was itchy and when I was brushing him I could see the dead fleas in his fur. We switched right back to Vectra I will not use anything else. My dog skin is still itchy but no more dead fleas in his fur . I highly recommend it I know it cost a little more but in the end it so worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! We've been using this product since our lab was 8 weeks old. When we got her she was infested with fleas (back yard breeder) Since using Vectra we have never had an issue with fleas or ticks again and the ticks are horrible in MI. One time we ran out and I tried a cheaper over the counter product and she had 2 ticks on her in 1 day. We will never use another product! With proper bathing and regular monthly applications this is the best product on the market. On a side note, she spends her whole summer in our pool and still hasn't gotten fleas.

Questions

I put medication on my dog this morning. Now he is scratching more than ever. What does this mean? Is this the way it works? Border collie mix 56 lb

Asked by: Ep57
Thank you for your question. Some potential side effects may include slight transitory redness (erythema), itching (pruritus), or other signs of discomfort at the site of application. This may occur after using any pesticide product for dogs. If any symptoms of sensitivity occur, bathe your dog with mild soap or shampoo with large amounts of water. Contact your veterinarian if these symptoms persist or if your dog is showing gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting or diarrhea.

How soon can I shampoo dog after treatment?

Asked by: Kay Lea
I always bathe my dog 1st w/a homemade shampoo that has rosemary & rosemary essential oil in it. Rosemary kills fleas, u could also use Rosemary boiled in water - cooled as a rinse. The point being u only have to wait until they're dry bc u r not using chemicals.

What is Vectra 3D?

Vectra 3D is a topical solution for dogs and puppies over 8 weeks old, providing effective control of fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes for a month. It is an over-the-counter topical that begins reducing flea feeding in just 5 minutes. Vectra 3D repels and kills ticks (Brown dog ticks, American dog ticks, Deer ticks, Gulf Coast ticks, and Lone Star ticks) that may transmit Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, babesiosis, ehrlichiosis, bartonellosis, hepatozoonosis, and anaplasmosis for one month. It also repels and kills fleas that can cause flea allergy dermatitis, mosquitoes that may transmit vector-borne disease, biting and sand flies, lice, and mites for one month. Vectra 3D also prevents all flea stages (eggs, pupae, larvae, and adult fleas) from developing. The long-lasting topical remains effective after bathing and swimming.

For:

Dogs and puppies (8+ weeks of age, weighing 5+ lbs)

Benefits:

  • Repels and kills fleas, ticks (Brown dog ticks, American dog ticks, Deer ticks, Gulf Coast ticks, and Lone Star ticks), mosquitoes, biting and sand flies, lice, and mites for one month
  • Prevents all flea stages from developing
  • Starts to reduce flea feeding in just 5 minutes
  • Easy application
  • Quick drying, non-greasy, and waterproof
  • Fast-acting and long-lasting

How does Vectra 3D work?

Vectra 3D is a fast-acting topical that kills parasites through contact, meaning they don't have to bite your dog to die. The active ingredients combined work to keep your dog protected throughout a whole month. Dinotefuran quickly kills fleas, Pyriproxyfen prevents the development of all flea stages, and Permethrin repels and kills ticks, flies, mosquitoes, and mites. The bioadhesives in Vectra 3D allow it to bond the active ingredients to the skin, which help the ingredients move across the skin following application and preventing the product from easily washing off.

Cautions:

Vectra 3D is meant for use only in dogs and puppies over 8 weeks of age. Do not use on cats, and keep out of reach of children. If there is a cat in the household, make sure to separate your cat from your treated dog for 24 hours. Also, don't allow children to have contact with treated areas until the applicated areas are completely dry. Do not get into eyes or on clothing and avoid contact with skin. Do not use Vectra 3D on debilitated, aged, medicated, pregnant or nursing dogs, or dogs known to be sensitive to pesticide products without first consulting a veterinarian.
