Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst vitamins ever I had to force my dog to swallow the vitamin. He hated them!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great vitamin, poor taste Bought the two kinds of vitamins Pet-meds carry, and my Shitzu hates the taste of both. The one vitamin that appears to be a good one is to big, some how they need to come up with a better tasting vitamin.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Way to big and dog will not eat I have a shitzupoodle and he will not eat this vitamin. This was a big waste if money. If they would make it as an actual chewable would be better instead of a pill.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Table way to big for small dog I purchased this for my Shih-Tzu (15 lbs) and he will eat anything. Not so with this vitamin tablet. First, way to big for size of dog and even when i cut it in half no go. Did not like the texture or taste. Has had other vitamins in the past and was fine. Will have to go back to other brands. Just wanted to give this brand a try.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good multi-vitamin to supplement home-cooked meals We needed a multivitamin to supplement our dog's meals when we give her a plain-cooked chicken and rice meal a few times a week. Our dog won't eat the tablet by itself, but will eat it if it is cut into smaller pieces and sprinkled over her dinner. A serrated bread knife gets the job done quickly. The tablet crumbles when I saw it into quarters, so it's just a matter of cutting it on a paper towel and sprinkling the vitamin into her bowl. Our dog loves chicken and rice days and I feel like she is getting the nutrition she needs when I add the vita chew. We got our order on the day estimated for the shipping and our dog loves the delicious dog biscuit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great supplement Olive is an 8 year old terrier mix with supraventricular tachycardia. She's been taking beta blockers for about 6 months now, but I've noticed a dramatic improvement in her health since I've added these vitamins to her regimen. Fewer episodes of elevated heart rate, and she seems to have more energy. Although a lot of reviewers have had issues administering these to their pets, Olive has never turned one down. I absolutely recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Won't ever be without these again. I absolutely love this product. I initially got it because I noticed my 7yr old pit/boxer was showing signs of aging like not wanting to play as much and sleeping more than usual. I thought this would be a waste of money but I wanted to at least try it and see for peace of mind. It's been about 4 weeks and he has shown incredible signs of improvement. He wants to play with anything all the time and has that "light in his eyes" back. It's like having his puppy self back but without all the bad manners! I'm getting the best of both worlds! We add it to his food morning and night and he has no problems eating it. I also have noticed signs of improvement in my (almost) 9 yr old miniature Dachshund. I didn't think she needed any improvement but she is even more playful than before (idk how that's even possible!) and many of her bad behaviors have just stopped while her good behaviors are like on overdrive. I haven't noticed any differences in my younger dogs but they are probably too young to need "improvement" so these will be great preventative measures. The only negative things is that my Siberian Husky wont eat them unless they are cut in half and soaked in water for about 10mins but this isn't a problem since it takes me so long to get 4cats and 4 dogs food together and distributed that it has plenty of time to soften up. My home won't ever be without this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are great vitamins with a little bit of everything dogs need. My Boston Terrier hates the taste but I cut them in 4 pieces & hide in lunch meat & he takes them fine that way. I have a fairly new German Shepard puppy & she LOVES them! So nice & easy to give one to her & she gobbles it right up, she is a bit picky too so I'm surprised! The only downfall to these is they use magnesium as oxide which is the WORST absorbing magnesium there is. I called to speak to a pharmacist to ask why that is & see if they could change to a good absorbing magnesium, as we all deplete on magnesium as we age & it's very important to supplement correctly. I was told I would receive a call back & never did. I surprised at that since normally 1800 pet meds are so helpful & caring. My Boston loves getting the treat in the order left at the door, he would never normally eat those kind of milk bones but I think he loves the whole idea of mom opening the package & a treat is in there! lol I have to order more vitamins today & this is my first time since having the new puppy, now I will have to try breaking the treat in half I guess.....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wow, Really Awful Hi, My name is Traveler. I have a sensitive stomach and so am on a special diet that includes lots of rice, chicken and a little food for sensitive stomachs. For this reason I have to take a multivitamin. I loved the vitamins that my people bought me from the vet - they thought they were fooling me when they gave them to me like treats. This time they bought vitamins from 1-800-Petmeds and they are awful. No way am I putting those in my mouth, chewing and swallowing. In order to be effective I have to eat them and I am not eating these and they are much too big for me to swallow. Sorry, but I'd look at another kind if you need vitamins.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not chewable I just received this product for the first time. It is not Chewable my 100 pound Labrador cannot even chew this,he actually gums the pill then spits it out. Even when I break it he refuses to take it. It is becoming a big chore for me to make him take it. I will be sending this product back.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dog Eating His Feces After VitaChews I have a 10 year old Brussels Griffon who is in good health but because he is aging, I decided to try Vitachews. Initially, I could tell a difference because he was a little more active than usual. Last night I noticed that he was smelling his feces a little too long and before I could get to him, he was eating it!! I was in total shocked and grossed out! He has never done that before. He actually walks around it if it's there. Today I took him out and as soon as he finished, he turned around and started eating it again! It's almost like it was a treat to him. I did notice that the smell of his feces is quite different than prior to the Vitachews. The only thing different is the supplements. I am forced to discontinue this product and hope that I can find something to deter this behavior.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Return to original shape, please! I agree with other reviewers that this is a good product, but I'm writing this review to ask manufacturers to return to its original disk shape. The new football shape is thicker and harder to break, which I need to do for my small dog, so it's less convenient to administer. The disk was easy to break in half by hand, but the newer one requires a knife! Sometimes change isn't good. Otherwise, good product that my dogs eat readily with their food.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Affordable supplement My 75 ib pit was a rescue with a rough history. Because I am unsure of her age, I wanted her on a supplement and good diet. I ordered these and (as usual) was pleased with price and the order itself. The only downside is, she does NOT like the taste and they are very hard. I wish they were a soft chew. Luckily for me, Karma lets me poke pills down her throat as long as she gets a 'cookie' after. If your dog doesn't like pills, you'll have to smash it up and put it in wet food. Also, I purchased a separate omega 3 (fish oil) supplement because this one does not have enough. Overall, though, I'm pleased and will reorder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Vitamin We have a 11 year old Chihuahua and like most old dogs, she spends about the whole day sleeping. The first day we gave her only a fourth of a crushed up vitamin. That night she was awake and happily chewing on the dog biscuit that came in the box. She's never had that much energy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from tough to chew Molly doesn't seem to like to chew these. I have to break them up. She's a 60lb bull terrier. She will pick them out of her bowl if I didn't. Would be nice to have them softer for her .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I started giving the ViatChews to my 11 year old Sheltie, She is taking thyroid medicine, sleeping a lot and overall low activity. After 2 weeks of giving them the VitaChews (by the way I cut them up and put them in their food as they tended to just swallow them and not chew them). She now does not sleep as much, her activity level has gone way up, she doesn't sleep as much during the day. Overall a much more active dog.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't like I bought these thinking it may help Maggie with her mobility problems. But the bigger problem was getting her to take them. No matter how I gave it to her or what it was disguised with she wouldn't eat it. It smelt alot like medicine when I opened the bottle. Not sure why she didn't like them as she has always had no problem eating anything else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mommy, Where's my VitaChew? Our Girl Leia expects her VitaChew with breakfast daily. I admit she is a 70lb dog and I only give her one daily (compared to the 3 it suggests) but I can still see a big difference from just before we started giving them to her to the present (about 2 months later). She is more active for one and not as stiff. Her coat has changed dramatically from a rough, not so fun to pet, coat to a soft and cuddly one. We are SO happy with the results and if I ever forget to put it on her breakfast she sits and refuses to eat until she has had it. Time to order more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great supplement I have two really old dogs and they love this supplement. I feed it to them out of hand and they chew them right up. I really think this supplement has contributed to their longevity. It's a little expensive, but worth it in my opinion.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from bad taste I bought Super VitaChews because you apparently don't carry Pet Tabs anymore. My dog immediately spit them out. This is a dog who will eat ANYtHING.So I pulverized a few, and gave her just a little powder in her breakfast. For the first time in memory, she wouldn't finish her breakfast. I have no doubt that these chews are very nutritious, but if they taste so horrible, what good are they? Other than this product, I have been very happy with PetMeds, and will certainly continue to be a customer. Thanks >

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great to perk up older dog I have given my 11 year old terrier mix these vits for about a year and he acts like a 1 yr old. Runs, jumps. catches the ball and has fun. His coat is beartiful. He will not take them as a treat, but I crush them in his food and he eats it all. His vet check ups are good. Can't say for sure it is the vit, but he is healthy, bright, active and he was slowling down before I started this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These vitamins work fine!! I have two cocker spaniels. One is five the other is eleven. I crush them and put them in their food. They don't seem to mind them at all. Go to dogfoodanalysis.com and look at how bad the dog food is today. Just search for the kind you feed. Pretty sad. I make my own dog food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Treat! I have three dogs in the 50# range. All three behave as if they are getting a treat when I hand them out after their morning and evening meals. The vet always comments on how healthy and good looking my dogs are - including the 11 year old Labrador. Since starting the vitamin and cosequin for her joints, she's acting full of energy and without any pain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super VitaChews vs Regular VitaChews I have been purchasing the Regular bone-shaped VitaChews in the past, and my dog loved them; so I was hesitant about switching to the Super VitaChews based on some other reviews that their dog got sick or spit them out. But, not to worry. My dog also loves them just as well, and I know that Lone Star is getting even more vitamins with this new product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from sick dog I gave my 9 month old puppy one of this vitamins and he got REALLY sick, He was vomiting and peeing every 10 minutes and he was desperate runing everywhere, I have such a bad experience with this vitamins and I only gave him one. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved by all! I have 3 dogs - sizes XS, S, and L. They all love them, and have been taking them for at least a year. Even my tiny 6 lb. Chihuahua loves these tablets, and although he chews them slowly, he has no problem with them at all. The two little ones get them once a day, while my big dog gets one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. I don't have to entice them with anything else. They gobble them up just as they are, and they act like they're treats. They even get up on their hind legs and beg for them! I feel so bad for my two little ones when my big one gets her second one, and they get none. I give them a little piece of cheese, instead. ;)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific vitamin I started using these vitamins for my golden after he was diagnosed with bone cancer. I can honestly say he liked the vitamins and they seemed to help him have more energy. I have since been giving them to our 4 year old golden mix, that we adopted. She had heartworms when we adopted her. She is now in good health and taking these vitamins every day. She loves them and thinks they are a treat. She sits as soon as I get the bottle out. She definitely has more energy and her coat is shiny.

My dog Leopold, is a Shepard Mix has Cancer. It started out with him getting Fatty Tumors (Lipomas) and almost 3 now his back right hip and leg are so swollen, Are there any Vitamins or Supplements to help extend his llfe ? Im not ready to loose him yet

Asked by: StRicku113
We are very sorry hear that your furry friend has cancer. Since many cancers thrive on a sugar-rich blood supply, feeding pets with cancer a low carbohydrate, high Omega 3 fatty acid, arginine-type diet is often recommended. Some recommended products for pets with cancer would be Proanthozone , Cell Advance 880, etc . We would recommend consulting the DVM before administering any vitamins/supplements.

How many if any calories are in the Vita chews?

Asked by: Chris 7000
There may be small amount of calories per tablet, however nothing significant. The manufacturer would need to indicate on the label if there were a significant amount of calories contained in the product. If your pet is on a very strict diet, then you should check with your veterinarian before using this product

Is this okay for an 11 lb. 11 yr. old Miniature Schnauzer or is there a vitamin for small breeds? I'm worried about changing from vitamin she takes.

I have an 11 year old Miniature Schnauzer that only weighs 11 pounds. She has been taking Pro-Pet Puppy & Small Breed Daily Vitamin Supplement. Do you recommend this vitamin for an older small breed dog? Is it harmful to switch from one vitamin to another? The vet just had me make the change from regular dog food to mature dog food and I didn't know if this change would be too much at one time. She is very healthy and her blood tests come back with results of a much younger dog.
