What is Flea5X Plus - Generic to Frontline Plus?

Flea5X Plus is a monthly topical flea and tick preventative for dogs and cats over 8 weeks of age. It contains the same active ingredients as Frontline Plus. Flea5X Plus contains fipronil to quickly kill adult fleas, ticks and chewing lice on your pet. Flea5X Plus also contains (S)-methoprene, an insect growth regulator that kills flea eggs and larvae to help end the flea life cycle. In addition to killing adult fleas and preventing reinfestation, Flea5X Plus is effective against ticks such as the brown dog tick, the American dog tick, the lone star tick and the deer tick, including those that may transmit Lyme disease. Choose Flea5X Plus for a great savings over leading comparable brands and get the same effective protection for your pet.

For:

Cats/Kittens over 1.5 lbs (8 weeks or older), Dogs/Puppies over 4 lbs (8 weeks or older)

Benefits:
  • Each application protects your pet from multiple pests for a full month
  • Helps control sarcoptic mange infections in dogs
  • Kills fleas that may cause skin allergies
  • Waterproof formula won't wash off during swimming or bathing
  • Kills fleas, flea eggs, flea larvae, ticks (including those that may transmit Lyme disease and other tickborne diseases), and chewing lice
  • Compare to Frontline Plus, containing the same active ingredients
  • Prevents and controls infestations for 30 days
How it Works:

Flea5X Plus contains fipronil, a slow-acting, broad-spectrum insecticide that disrupts the central nervous system of fleas and ticks. It also contains (S)-Methoprene, an insect growth regulator that helps to stop the flea life cycle by killing flea eggs and larvae. The waterproof formula means your pet will be protected even after swimming or bathing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from did not prevent fleas or ticks I've been using Frontline successfully on my 3 dogs for 9 yrs, 7 yrs and 5 yrs. When ordering, 1-800-Pet-Meds recommended I try their generic for less money, so I did. With no change in our routine of outdoor play and walking, all 3 dogs got multiple ticks and a small case of fleas.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fleas X Plus The product seem to work - thus far, first time using. Smells to high heaven, U have small dogs (Yorkies) and they were uncomfortable with the smell as was I. Will be returning to Frontline.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from you get what you pay for I used it on my two small dogs and my sons, it didn't work for us. I am going back to what may cost more but I know works.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Formula changed Now it has a smell that makes my pet smell terrible! Will not purchase again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible odor! This medicine has a nauseating smell, and this is after it's dry! It's been 24 hours and it is still overpowering. I'm washing it off my dog--poor thing. She can't get away from it like I can.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We'll see I have been using the 4X for a couple of years on two dogs with good results. We don't do treatments throughout winter so this is the first month application for this year. We are now using the 5X and down to one dog. When I applied this, our dog went nuts, like he was trying to run away from himself. He would sniff around and lay down in one of his resting spots then jump up and move to another spot, sniffing around and repeat from room to room. This lasted about ten minutes before he went outside and rolled around, then came back in and finally settled down after about 15 minutes. We have been pleased with the previous version of this product. Hopefully this reaction was due to being the first application of the season and not due to changes in the formula.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Fragrance Free Very strange.....this product smelled like maple syrup. On both my dogs. So, I called CS and was happily surprised when they refunded for the complete order of this product even though one box was used. I swapped it out for Frontline Plus which is what I've used for years. I'm very impressed with this company...just not with this product.. The CSR said it's the first time she had heard this complaint so I don't know what the cause was but I won't be using it again. Thank you 800PetMeds for your professionalism. :-)

Q&A

Does Flea 5X Plus kill mosquitoes.

Asked by: Rocky
Flea5X Plus is a monthly topical flea and tick preventative for dogs and cats over 8 weeks of age. It contains the same active ingredients as Frontline Plus which does not cover mosquitoes. You may want to look into the K9 Advantix II which combines imidacloprid and permethrin to repel and kill fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. You may click on the link below to view the K9 Advantix II. I ordered the frontline for my dog I put it on him and noticed he still had a few fleas in him. What can I do ? Should I put another dose in him ?

Asked by: lisalynn
As long it has been at least two weeks, it is safe to apply another dose. For best results, you may want to treat your home and the pet bedding as well to prevent a re-infestation.

Why only good for 30 days?

I have a package of Frontline Plus that says it controls fleas and ticks for 60 days. Why does the Fleas 5xmgeneric with the same ingredients have to be reapplied every 30 days?

Should I still see fleas on my cat after 2 days?

Asked by: Anonymous
It's possible to see one or two. Theoretically it should kill eggs so that they don't hatch at all, but there's always a possibility of one. More likely, your home is infested and they jumped on the cat from somewhere else. You should treat your fabric furniture, carpeting, etc. If you have an outdoor kitty, your yard might need some clean up too.

CAT IS 30 POUNDS, WHICH OF THE FLEA TREATMENTS ARE DESIGNED TO GO BY ANIMAL WEIGHT?
Asked by: Darlin Jill
Hi there, this is for all weights so you will be fine unless you have been directed by your vet to administer flea and tick medication a certain way. You would follow the directions he/she gave you.
