What is Frontline Plus?

Frontline Plus is a monthly topical flea and tick preventative for dogs and cats. Frontline Plus kills 100% of adult fleas on your pet within 12 hours and 100% of all ticks and chewing lice within 48 hours. Frontline Plus contains an insect growth regulator, S-methoprene, which kills flea eggs and larvae. It's effective against all stages of the brown dog tick, the American dog tick, the lone star tick and the deer tick (the major carrier of Lyme disease). (3 Pack = 3 doses which lasts 3 months.)

For:

Cats/Kittens and Dogs/Puppies (8 weeks of age and older)

Benefits:
  • Kills all existing fleas on your pet within 12 hours
  • Each application provides a full month of protection
  • Also aids in the control of sarcoptic mange infections in dogs

  • Kills ticks and chewing lice
How it Works:

Frontline Plus contains fipronil, a broad-spectrum insecticide and slow-acting poison that disrupts the central nervous system of fleas and ticks and S-Methoprene, an insect growth regulator that kills flea eggs and larvae. The active ingredients are stored in the sebaceous glands and are wicked out of the hair follicles and continuously re-applied to the coat for long-lasting, waterproof protection.

Cautions:

Your pet may experience some temporary irritation at the site of application. If signs persist or become severe within a few days of application, consult your veterinarian immediately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has worked for years! I have bought Frontline Plus for a number of years for a number of my outdoor cats. They roam 30+ acres of woods and I have not had one issue with fleas or ticks. I believe you can't go wrong purchasing this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Effective product Effective product for fleas but found we also needed to use in conjunction with the flea/tick collar to control wood ticks! We appreciated lower price by using PetMeds, but it took 10 days via Fed Ex to receive! Disappointed in delivery responsiveness.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not work Must have changed it. Because it did not work this time. It had always been quite useful in the past for my dogs. But made the fleas worse if possible this time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for small dogs I have 2 Yorkies and started them on Frontline Plus. I at one point changed to another brand and Nikki got an allergic reaction from it because it was too strong. I switched back to Frontline and they are both going great. They love getting their medicine, put down their heads when I am applying it.

Q&A

I have the dog frontline plus and it states "do not use on cats". It has the same ingredients, the cat has a little more S-methoprene. If measured correctly, can I use it on my cats?

Asked by: bbeepsue
As a licensed pharmacy, we cannot recommend using the dog Frontline Plus on a cat. This is to prevent over or under medicating your furry baby.

What will happen if my dog scratches the area where front line is applied and licks his foot? Will he get sick?

Asked by: Billydee
It is recommended that you apply Frontline monthly is an area where the pet can not lick or get their paws to the affected area. This area is best between the shoulder blades or at the base of the neck. You must part the fur to get the liquid down onto the skin for better penetration.

My dog weighs between 44 and 46 pounds at any given time. Since I am looking to buy a 6-pack of Frontline Plus

I need to know whether to buy the 23-44 lbs or the next dosage for dogs weighing 44-88. Please advise. Thanks!
Asked by: Anonymous
If your furry baby's weight fluctuates and gets below 44 pounds you will go with 23-44 lbs. If your furry baby usually stays 44 pounds and over, than you will need the 45 to 88 pounds to prevent under medicating your furry baby.

My veterinarian told me to apply right above the tail, not at the shoulders...which is best?

Asked by: Anonymous
I apply mine as the package indicates from the neck to the shoulders. A dog goes into the grass and bushes headfirst and that's where the ticks attach themselves.

If my dog weighs 19 lbs can I use the next size up

Asked by: Chero
We recommend using the 5-22 lbs dose for a 19 lbs dog. This prevents over medicating your furry baby.
