What is NexGard?
Protecting your dog from harmful fleas and ticks has never been so easy! How it Works:
NexGard contains a brand new ingredient not used in any other flea and tick protection. Afoxolaner, the ingredient in NexGard, works by absorbing rapidly and safely into your pet's bloodstream and causes uncontrolled activity the fleas' and ticks' central nervous systems, which causes death. Afoxolaner is slowly excreted through your pet's metabolism, which allows NexGard to continue to provide effective treatment for a full 30 days. This means amazing protection in a tasty morsel! NexGard is a prescription-only medication, so talk to your vet.
Cautions:

What is this product used for:
NexGard kills adult fleas and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis), and the treatment and control of the American dog tick (Dermacentor variabilis), the black-legged (deer) tick (Ixodes scapularis) and the Lone star tick (Amblyomma americanum) infestations in dogs and puppies 8 weeks of age and older, weighing 4 pounds of body weight or greater, for one month.
Availability:
NexGard requires a prescription.
How this product should be used:
Give appropriate dosage based on your dog's weight. (See How to Use). If it is suspected that any of the dose has been lost or if vomiting occurs within two hours of administration redose with another full dose. If a dose is missed, administer NexGard and resume a monthly dosing schedule. NexGard can be administered with or without food. NexGard should be administered all year-round. Treat all the pets in your home to reduce the risk of a flea infestation.
What are the side effects:
The most frequently reported adverse reaction was vomiting. The occurrence of vomiting was generally self-limiting and of short duration and tended to decrease with subsequent doses. There are no known contraindications for the use of NexGard.
What special precautions are there:

For best results, make sure that your dog eats entire chew.

Works great!
I had tried the topical flea treatments, and did not like the oily residue left in my double-coated dog's fur. The vet recommended NexGard, and we have been completely happy with the results! No fleas, no ticks - and very easy to administer! My furry girl loves the taste and it is a treat for her.

Works great!!!
I have had my German Shepherd Female on it for going on a year. She weighs 97lbs and when I got her she weighed 65lbs and was a SPCA rescue. Anyway I take her over to play with another German Shepherd female and the owner told me that they have a tick problem on their property...so when I got her home I checked her for any ticks several hours after getting her home and found a tick but it was already dead. When I pulled the tick out it came out head and all, and really was dead. this stuff works great and very fast!

Easy to use!!
After months of fighting my dog to apply topical flea prevention I decided to give Nexguard a try. Easiest flea prevention ever, she gobled it up. No mess or fights. She has been on it for a few weeks and her itch is gone! I highly recommend this product to dog owners.

Works great!
I have 2 dogs that love the backyard but always ended up with hundreds of fleas on them ! I tried nexgard and it work perfectly !!! Within the next few hours my dogs were flea free. i finally found a product that actually work and they love it!

No mess!
My dog loves to sleep under the covers in bed with my husband and I. My kids also love to play with our dog. I hated the collars due to the powder that would get on my kids and my sheets. I hated the medicine you would put down their backs due to dirt and everything else sticking to it and then my kids touching it or it getting on my sheets or me while we slept. I love these chewables. My dog has no problem taking them and I don't have to worry about my family being exposed to the chemicals.

My dog weighs 24 pounds. Which weight class would you recommend? She is 5 months old.
Please contact your Pet's Veterinarian as to what medication they will prescribe based on the pets weight and age.

Is this a guaranteed medication? I'm only saving $50 here & my Vet claimed many online discount pet meds do not have a guarantee that I am purchasing the product I actually need. Or perhaps that's just my Vet reaching into my pocket.

How long do I have to wait before I can bath my puppy, after giving her a dose of nexgard
Because NexGard is an oral product, swimming or bathing has no effect on NexGard. Your dog’s coat can get wet immediately after taking NexGard.

Nexgard is available in single doses. This may be the best option until your pet reaches a stable weight.

What is the dosage for a puppy weighing 2 lbs? Would I cut the chew in half or go ahead and give the whole chew?
Nexgard has not been approved for use in puppies weighing less than 4 pounds. Since the tablet is a non-scored chewable tablet, you should not cut it in half as the active ingredient may not be evenly distributed throughout the tablet making accurate dosing impossible.
