How it works:

What is this product used for:
The FURminator deShedding Tool for Dogs is used to remove dead, loose hair from your dog's undercoat, which promotes healthier skin and coat.
How this product should be used:
Although you can use the FURminator on a coat that isn't freshly washed, you may see better results if you shampoo and dry your dog's coat before you use the deShedding tool. However, do not use the tool until the coat is COMPLETELY dry.
For easy clean up, use the FURminator in an area that is easy to sweep or vacuum.
To protect your dog, be sure you thoroughly inspect your dog's coat and skin before you begin using the FURminator to make sure there are no cuts, bruises, abrasions, sores, or skin conditions on the skin or any matted areas or tangles in the fur. Because your dog's coat can hide skin conditions, make sure you inspect your dog's skin closely. DO NOT use the FURminator if your dog has any skin conditions. Instead, take your dog to a veterinarian for professional treatment. It's also important not to try to comb through matted or tangled fur. To remove mats or tangles, you should take your dog to the groomer or use professional grooming tools at home.
What special precautions are there:
DO NOT use the FURminator deShedding Tool for Dogs if your dog has any sores, cuts bruises, abrasions, or skin conditions, and DO NOT use if your dog's coat has tangles or matting.
Directions:
- Before using the FURminator deShedding Tool for Dogs, inspect and remove any tangles and/or matting from your dog's coat with proper professional grooming tools.
- Use on a clean, dry coat.
- Always start from the head and move down the body, ensuring that the blade and teeth are angled toward the coat. Comb only in the direction the coat grows, and do not use on or around sensitive areas like ears, paws, legs, and genitals.
- Gently and slowly glide the tool, using long, smooth strokes in the direction of hair growth. Keep the tool up and away from your dog's skin, touching only the coat. Do not use repeated strokes in the same area, and do not apply too much pressure on the tool as you comb, as doing so can irritate your dog's skin and cause discomfort. Dogs with sensitive skin may suffer brush burns even with light combing. If you notice any redness or irritation, stop using the tool immediately, and discontinue use until you've spoken with your veterinarian about your dog's skin reactions.
- When you've finished grooming your dog, always remember to store the tool in a safe place, out of the reach of children.

Don't know why i never purchased this before..works like a charm. Effortless and really does what it claims. Literally, had a plastic shopping bag full of undercoat hair in about 10 mins! Great product. (I bought the large dog--short hair version--60 pound rottweiler-mix)

OMG This thing is wonderful !!
I am sooo sorry I waited so long before buying this for our basset, Fred. I've seen it before but doubted it and didn't want to spend $50+ for something I figured wouldn't really work any better than the regular combs and brushes. I WAS WRONG, WRONG, WRONG !! Fred has been shredding so much and I was looking for good shampoo while I was ordering his flea/tick medicine...and stumbled on the FURminator. I read all the reviews. I debated should I get the Small or the Large dogs....Fred is 52 lbs and a healthy middle age basset. Well, he's 6 yrs old. I decided to just go for it...and ordered the tool for Small dogs. It came 2 days ago. I broke it out and tried it right away...being careful to save the wrapping in case it didn't work so I could send it back. OH NO !! Fred absolutely LOVES it. He stands really still and lets me gently comb through his fur....and handfuls of hair comb out....and it is SUPER EASY to release the hair and continue combing. Fred even laid down and wanted me to do his underside. He let me do his tail. He absolutely, positively loves this thing. And I got handfuls of hair off the boy. He looks better than he ever has and he feels sooo much better. He is one happy dog !! And I am just thrilled. I wouldn't send this back for anything! I am never going to be without this FURminator. I just want to tell anyone who is on the fence about ordering one.....absolutely....this things works and you and your dog are going to love it. Don't be like me and wait so long. Man, I wish I would have had this thing for the last 6 years....

Awesome!
I have a lab that swims in the pool everyday. The pool filter was a mess all the time. We had to clean it almost daily. This has saved the pool. The hair in the filter has decreased dramatically. It takes less towels to dry the dog off now. So the savings in chlorine and laundry more than make up for the cost of the comb.

I've been dealing with shedding for years and never really knew how to combat it. I adopted a Pembroke Corgi and love the little devil, not so much the eons of hairs all over the place (even after vacuuming). I took a chance on this comb after reading the reviews, and so glad I did!! (Thank you to the other Corgi owner who wrote a review-changed my life too)
OMG, this thing is amazing!! The first time I used it I got a whole bag full of hair and his coat feels great!! He even laid down and let me use it after a moment, which he's never done before.
Don't hesitate to buy this comb. It's great and you'll never regret it. I look at is as paying for itself if I don't have to take my dog to a groomer.

A MUST HAVE!!
Before I got the Furminator, my house looked like a pillow fight explosion when my dog blows his coat. No amount of vacuuming and brushing him would help - the undercoat just keeps coming and coming...so after watching the video, I bought the Furminator and it's the best!!! My dog's coat looks SOOO much better and he feels better - he looks like he's smiling afterwards! Wow I can build 3 more dogs from all the fluffy undercoat that comes out with this tool. You just need to get the hang of the angle to really get the fluff, but it's easy to use. My dog and I thank you (and my vacuum cleaner may last a little longer:). Recommend for any dog that sheds.

GREAT PRODUCT !!
I just received my small for short hair dogs Furminator and used it on my white Chihuahua and it works great. Dog is very relaxed while I'm using it on him and all the soft undercoat comes out and is easily removed from the product by pressing the button.
Highly recommend this product. Received product in a couple days ... thank you 1-800-pet-meds for such a wonderful company and quick delivery time.

What size do I get for a 7 month old irish-cream golden retriever?
The medium short hair deshedding tool is recommended for dogs 21-50 lbs with hair Shorter than 2 inches and the medium long hair tool is recommended for dogs 21-50 lbs with hair longer than 2 inches.
For dogs 51-90 lbs, you will need the short hair, large deshedding tool for hair shorter than 2 inches and the large, long hair tool for dogs with hair longer than 2 inches.
