What is Perimeter Technologies Wifi Dog Fence System?

The Perimeter Technologies Wifi Dog Fence System is a small wire-free dog fence that protects your dog from going outside your yard. It creates a signal between the receiver and your dog's collar to alert your dog when he or she is going towards the boundary zone. The Perimeter Technologies Wifi Dog Fence System has a range of 2 1/2 acres and is completely wire-free so you don't have to worry about burying wires underground. Included in this wifi dog fence system is a wire-free Base SmartStation, which stays indoors and a receiver collar that goes around your dog's neck. Both devices work together and constantly transmit information to let you know the location of your dog, while also reminding him or her where the boundaries are.

How it Works:

The difference between the Perimeter Technologies Wifi Dog Fence System and other fencing systems is the digitally - encoded Wi-Fi signal technology. The wire-free SmartStation and collar are connected by transceivers - signal chips that constantly link the distance between your dog and the SmartStation. This means you will always know just how far your dog is from you at all times! The SmartStation and the receiver collar cover up to 2 1/2 acres. The SmartStation is smaller than most wireless pet fences and produces 3 times the useful safe area. The receiver collar offers a warning tone - only correction when your dog is approaching the boundary and then progressive levels of static if he or she continues towards the boundary. Static levels of correction range from 2-8. The Base SmartStation also includes a battery charger that monitors the charge level of the battery in your dog's collar so you don't have to worry about the safety of your dog. Recharging the battery takes about 3-4 hours. Since the Perimeter Technologies Wifi Dog Fence System comes with 2 rechargeable batteries, the one in the SmartStation acts as a backup should the power in your home go out.

Cautions:

Always start your pet on the lowest setting when beginning to test the boundaries. Never leave the receiver collar on your pet overnight.

Helpful tips on training your dog with the Perimeter Technologies Wifi Dog Fence System:

Start the first phase of training with the wire-free system level set on LEVEL 0. This is the training or "tone - only setting". This is to ensure that your dog can hear the training tone at the boundary, but there is no chance of correction.
Put the electronic training collar on your dog and make sure the indoor SmartStation is on and your pet's boundary has been set.
The first lesson is to introduce your dog to the boundary and to help him or her understand to back away from the fence when the training tone is heard.

If you live in any of the following surroundings the Perimeter Technologies Wifi Dog Fence System will not work for you:

Dense trees Metal siding on your home
Metal roofing materials on your home
Metal structures on your property within the area you wish to contain the dog
Log cabins - The system will not function in a log home since it is comparable to dense trees

Transmitter Settings

Setting 1 - Tone Only Warning
Settings 2 - 8 - Progressively Stronger Static Correction Per Level

The collar can be preset at one of 4 static settings, and then setting 5 which offers progressive correction. When approaching the preset boundary the collar emits a warning tone. If your dog continues to approach the boundary, the preset correction level will be triggered. If you have selected setting 5 then progressive correction will be triggered.

The method of setting the boundary did not work well. We tried setting it several times, calibrating etc. to no avail. Nice idea but needs improvement.

how much does your dog need to weigh?

This product is made for small medium and large dogs. The Perimeter Technologies Wifi Dog Fence System is a small wire-free dog fence that protects your dog from going outside your yard. It creates a signal between the receiver and your dog's collar to alert your dog when he or she is going towards the boundary zone. The Wi-Fi transceiver collar dimensions are: 2.5" x 1.5" x 1.25" .

If the dog goes outside the area will the shock collar shut down after half a minute? Or will the collar continue correcting until the dog returns?

You asked a great question. Will my dog continue to be shocked when outside of the safe area? No. When exceeding the boundary area that you set, the PetLink collar will sound a one second warning tone, followed by five seconds of stimulation at the level you have set from the SmartStation. This is followed by another five seconds of warning tone. This sequence is repeated two times until the dog returns to the safe area. Should your dog stay out of the safe area the tone only will continue to sound.

Amount of space it controls

I only own 2 acres and most of it is behind my home, is it possible to reign it in to only run the 2 acres I own, or is this product only good for people that own exactly 2 1/2 acres of property?

Thank you for your question. The wireless fence has a range of up to 2 and a half acres but can be used for any amount less than that.
