My 5 yr old chihuahua has been on a consistent diet of Iams since weaned from her mother who was also an Iams dog. Chica loves this food, and it keeps her very healthy and happy. She has a lot of energy. At one point she was being overfed so I changed her diet to the Senior formula, (it has less calories). She lost weight and went back to her original formula.

should I feed him once or twice daily with divided portions?
It really depends on the size and activity level of the dog. Large breeds are prone to Bloat which is when their stomach twists. It is a very painful thing and is sometimes fatal. To prevent it, make sure you feed your dog twice a day and don't play hard right before of after feeding.
