Natural Balance L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula is part of the Allergy-Free line of foods created for dogs prone to food allergies or sensitivities. This dog food limits the ingredients in your dog's diet which may help to reduce allergic reactions such as skin problems, upset stomach, or an irritable bowel. How it works:
Natural Balance L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets are specially formulated to help reduce allergic reactions in dogs with food sensitivities. By using fresh protein sources and quality carbohydrates not found in many other dog foods (such as sweet potatoes and real salmon) these simple ingredients may help to rebuild your dog's immune system and reduce allergic reactions. Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids from canola oil, salmon oil, and flaxseed help to maintain your dog's skin health and shiny coat.

Directions:
- Puppies: From six weeks to six months, feed three times a day. You may want to add a small amount of canned dog food for ease of feeding. The amount of canned dog food can be gradually decreased as the puppy matures. After six months, it is recommended to feed twice daily.
- Adult Dogs: Adult dogs should be fed either once or twice per day. When you first start feeding Natural Balance L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula, we suggest to start with the amounts recommended in the table below. Energy requirements vary with environmental conditions, temperature, and activity of your dog. The amount of food should always be adjusted to suit your dog's needs.
- Pregnant Dogs: A pregnant dog requires little or no increase of food during the first 6 weeks of pregnancy. During the remaining 3 weeks, the demand for nutrients will gradually increase and the food intake should increase accordingly. During the 7th week, the food intake should increase by approximately 10% and by 20% during weeks 8 and 9.
Lactating Dogs:
Lactation is the most nutritionally demanding period in your dog's life. Immediately after whelping, the nutritional demand for the new mother increases by 50% compared to the maintenance level. Nutritional requirements are dependent on the size of the mother and the number of nursing puppies. So as not to overwhelm the digestive system, the lactating mother should be fed 3 or 4 times per day. As a guideline, we suggest the following schedule:
- After whelping, feed 50% above maintenance level-feed in 3 equal meals per day.
- During the second week, feed twice the maintenance level-feed in 3 or 4 equal meals per day.
- During the third week, feed three times the maintenance level-feed in 3 or 4 equal meals per day.
- During the sixth week gradually reduce the food intake back to twice the maintenance level-feed in 3 equal meals per day.
• During weeks 7 and 8, feed 20% above maintenance levels-feed in 2 equal meals per day.
Tip:
We recommend a gradual introduction by replacing the current food with increasing portions of the new Natural Balance L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets Sweet Potato & Fish Formula. The change should be over a 5 to 7 day weaning period.

Great for Food Allergies
My dog (pitmix) has been having terrible skin problems for years. This food is the only thing that has helped to keep the itching, biting, chewing, and rashes under control. The brand also has the fish and sweet potato treats, which also help. My dog isn't super crazy about the taste but she gladly eats it.

I have 2 furry friends...one a Aussie Cattle dog mix...who eats everything and anything..and the other is a Maltese/Poodle mix who is a VERY PICKY eater...Thank God I bought a bag of Natural Balance sweet potato and fish formula...they Both chow down the moment the bowls are filled :)

Great food
Beside the fishy smell, this food is great. I have two pit bulls with allergies and this food has helped. It was recommended by our vet and they love it. I would recommend to any dog, especially with allergies.

Solid All-around food
I use Natural Balance and a few other brands (Sunshine Farms, Innova) on a regular basis. I have several dogs with several needs and this grain-free formula is solid. I'd recommend to pet owners looking for a solid, budget pet food.

Boxer Colitis Cure
The Boxer Rescue website recommends this food for Boxer's with colitis and sure enough, 4 month after adopting Heidi she had full blown 'soupy poops.' A quick switch to the Van Patten food and she's back to normal in every respect!

So happy we found this dog food!
My chocolate lab is on Sweet Potato & Fish and is FINALLY doing GREAT! I was beside myself with him for a very long time – he couldn’t keep anything down and was losing weight. Switched him to Natural Balance L.I.D. and he stopped throwing up! I didn’t know how much he was going to like fish – but he LOVES IT! He eats the dry, the cans and the treats – and he is doing great now – so healthy and at a good weight – and his energy is back. I’m so thankful we found this food so he can now live a happy life.

Helped with allergies
My 10 year-old beagle had skin problems: itching, scratching, hair loss, hot spots, etc. She still takes antihistamines in late summer/fall, but switching her to this fish sweet potato food has made a world of difference. She is much more comfortable, her coat is shiny, less flaky, and no red, bloody patches. She looks good, and I can tell she feels good. Her eyes are bright, she has more energy, she smells better and she seems to be getting younger!

Highly recommend
I must have tried 10 different brands of dog food with my Cavalier, but they all upset his tummy. Natural Balance Duck and Sweet Potato formula was tolerated from day one. He is now 2 1/2yrs old and happy and healthy.
