Wellness Canned Cat Food Formulas are cat food specially formulated to provide your cat with healthful nutrition by using real meat, free of hormones or steroids, as the first ingredient. How it works:

Wellness formulas are made with the highest quality ingredients including real meat and fresh fruits and vegetables. Each ingredient is included to provide a nutritional benefit to your cat's health, which means there are no empty calories in this food. The sweet potatoes and carrots provide vitamins, minerals, and beta-carotene. The cranberries and blueberries help maintain a healthy urinary tract. The amino acid Taurine is essential to cats and is included in all of these Wellness formulas to help with normal eye and heart function.

Directions:

It is important to slowly transition your cat from his/her current diet as it takes a few days for the body to adapt to the new nutrient levels. To transition, gradually mix in the new food over a 5-7 day period, increasing the amount of Wellness each day, so that you are feeding 100% Wellness by day 7.
Feed at room temperature. Make sure your cat always has access to clean fresh water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dave from Are people reviewing the same food? Issue #1: I noticed one reviewer critical of this food because of their pet's UTI issues. I bought this brand because of my cat's UTI issues! At the time, it was the only product available with cranberries in it; an ingredient famous for its ability to prevent bacteria from attaching to the urethra and bladder walls, thus helping prevent UTIs. After 3 trips to the Vet in 6 months, I switched to Wellness 8 months ago: 100% UTI free ever since. There are now other choices for cat food with cranberries or cranberry extracts; all more expensive. Issue #2: TASTE. My cats LOVE the chicken, and the turkey/salmon flavors. They DO NOT like whitefish, and are so-so with the duck. In other words: taste is UNIQUE to each animal, and must be selected through trial and error. Issue #3: INGREDIENTS. Cats ARE NOT strict carnivores! Like ALL other cat species, they regularly eat grasses and small fruits to satisfy nutritional cravings and support regularity. Sweet potatoes might not be my first ingredient choice, but the point is to achieve the proper balance of energy types, vitamins and minerals. If sweet potatoes do that with that recipe so be it. My cats have never been healthier and their Vet is pleased with their weights, coats, skin, etc. Note: I DO NOT feed the recommended amounts, I give slightly less: Approx. 1/3 can twice a day for the 9 lb. Tabby, and 1/2 can twice a day for the 16 lb Bengal. I supplement with 1/4 cup dry Wellness formula, during periods of high activity, typically late Winter, Spring.

Rated 2 out of 5 by lola from it's....healthy My husband insists on buying this for our cats because "It is the best" according to his research (which involved reading a website written by a lunatic vet who grinds up mice guts for her cats or something like that.) Maybe it is but my three boys absolutely despise it. Every single flavour is met with two bites and then a round of sad faces. Obviously they are inclined to eat some so they don't starve to death but I'm thrilled if they eat half of a serving over the course of the night. They inhale their breakfast, a dry food, so it's clear that they are hungry. If you have an overweight cat, try this! If you have an idiotic husband who would rather have a herd of hungry cats but still maintain an unwarranted sense of accomplishment, buy Spot's Stew and feed it to them on the DL before your cats start sporting the Heroin Chic look.

The reason being it is very rich, and 2 professionals (my Holistic vet included) have seen cats develop urinary tract issues. Because my cat has had these in the past, I serve it only rarely. Pros - My cat loves it, and eats his bowl clean. And it's grain free high quality food. Cons - Rich, and may not be best for cats with urinary tract issues.

It is helping him to maintain his weight which in the past was very difficult for him to do. I am grateful for a healthy food that he thinks tastes great.

It is probably better to have both. One of the benefits to dry food is that it helps keep teeth cleaner. Cats typically do not drink enough water so wet food is a very good to include in their daily diet.
