How it works:

Canidae All Life Stage Formula is made with high quality ingredients including real fruits, vegetables, whole brown rice, and meat meals from four different animal sources (chicken, turkey, lamb, and ocean fish). Each batch of Canidae is tested for quality during the in-production run and is manually checked for freshness and quality. Whether your dog is a puppy, adult, senior, or working breed, Canidae is a delicious and wholesome food your dog will love.

Directions:

Days 1 & 2: Feed 75% previous dog food and 25% Canidae.
Days 3 & 4: Feed 50% previous dog food and 50% Canidae.
Days 5 & 6: Feed 25% previous dog food and 75% Canidae.
Day 7: Feed 100% Canidae.
In most cases slowly transitioning is not possible. In that case, feed smaller portions more regularly by breaking up the daily intake to 3 to 4 feedings per day. Adding warm water to the food will also decrease the chance of your dog eating too quickly and not chewing thoroughly. Gulping a highly palatable product could cause vomiting.
If at any time during the transition, your dog experiences gastro-intestinal upset, keep the ratio of new to old food the same for several days. This will allow your dog to adjust to the new ratio before you incorporate more of the new food. In the event you are not transitioning with your old food, withhold food for 1 day and then start re-introducing 3 to 4 feedings per day mixed with warm water. All other treats and supplements should be withheld until fully transitioned.
You may notice a change in the appearance of your dog's stool even after the transition period. This can often be a result of a change in the amount of fiber and protein in the new diet and is normal.

Tip:

Canidae contains more meat and fewer carbohydrates than most other dog food brands. While a higher meat-to-carbohydrate ratio provides a healthier and more natural canine diet, those dogs who are used to eating a different diet will transition easier if the old food and new food are mixed together for a short time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kaye from Good for one pitbull, not the other I own 2 pitbulls, I have a 9month old female and a 3 year old male. I started them off on this food in November and it is now March. It seemed like the logical thing to do, by buying a food suitable for both of my dogs. My boy is a bit on the picky side and my girl has a sensitive stomach, but after reading the reviews I felt that it would cater to both the needs of my pooches. Time went by, and my boy seemed to be doing marvelous. Great stools, shiny coat, and an eagerness to eat it. As for my girl, she was not that picky so she just ate up whatever was in front of her! But, I came home one night and she had a stench coming out of her ear. Now remind you, both my dogs are indoor pets and I was very overprotective of her since she was a puppy. I did every treatment possible, ear mite treatments, cleaning her ears more often, buying a cone to stop her from scratching, and nothing worked. I thought to myself, how can such a good product, a bit pricey I might add, do this to my little pup? My boy started shying away from it as well, but he typically becomes bored of his food. (with the exception of costco brand food, but my girl could not handle it) I switched her food out in February. I could not take it anymore. She was crying all hours of the night, could not be left alone without a cone outside, and just was miserable. As soon as we switched her out, after a week she was a new woman. Her ears had gone back to a white/pinkish color versus a dark red pigment, she typically had. All in all, I think Canidae is a great food, the ingredients are wonderful and your dogs' stools won't disappoint you. I just noticed my dog's interest in it was lessening and my girl dog was allergic to it. The reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because my boy dog did enjoy it for a while and the quality of it was great. It just did not work out for my girl and that's what crushed me.

When I take my dog for her yearly check up, the vet is always impressed with how healthy she is and comments on her incredibly shiny coat. I attribute this to Canidae Dog Food: All Stages Formula. My dog loves it. I also give her the Canidae treats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cori from Canidae I've been eating this food just over a month, and I like it, My owner was buying my food at the Vet clinic, which is very expensive for him, he was paying 37.$$ for an 8lb bag of Z/D ultra,which would only go so far, I have stomach problems its sensitive to food, My owner very seldom gives me table food cause he knows it makes me sick. With Canidae I haven't gotten sick at all. To let you know it is a little less money , then getting it at the Vets. I would definately recommend this to my friends.

My American Eskimos love it and also my Black Lab. I am convinced this is one of the reasons Nanny is still around at 17. It's easy on the tummy and everyone likes it. Also, it's good on poopie pick up cause it disintegrates fast cause it doesn't have all those fillers. I highly recommend this food. With 4 dogs I go through a 44 lb bag in a month, so it's easy on the pocketbook too.

We get compliments on their coats all the time. You know it's good food when the big dogs only get 1cup morning and night because it's loaded with things they need instead of filler. On a funny side note I had to chuckle at the star rating for taste. I have no idea, my girls eat it up fast though.

Is there any way to convert the feedings into ounces

I would like to know the feeding amounts in ounces verses 1/2 or 1/4 cup, would it be the same as conventional measurements, it is just easier for us

My dog doesn't like any foods.

My purchases have been limited to whatever WalMart stocks. I have not been able to find a dry dog food that she will eat all of; she picks out pieces but won't eat the rest. She does much better with canned food, although I had to do some trial and error with that. I am spending a lot of money on uneaten dry dog food, which I will donate to the shelter. Are there any producers who offer samples? If I could find a nutritious dry food she likes that will be her life long food.

I have fed Canidae All Life Stages for the past few years and my dogs have been super healthy. My newest dog was an adoptee from the pound who had giardia and stomach issues. He had also been starved so I started him on Canidae as the pound gave him unhealthy dog food. He has come a long way since Feb and has gained 12 lbs and is feeling very spunky for an Australian Cattle Dog. I get the Canidae from the feed store and is about half the price as it is here. I pay about $46 for a 44 lb bag. If you feed better food, your dog is likely to eat better. It will also keep him healthy and add a longer lifespan.

Can you recommend a dry food for my old dog?

Yuki is 17 years old, has few teeth, and seems to like dry (crunchy - doesn't like semi-soft) food along with her canned wet food. Can you suggest any of your products for her?

My 17 year old American Eskimo eats the dry Canidae PAWS and has 6 teeth left. So Yuki would do fine with this. Nanny doesn't like wet food so she only eats PAWS.
