What is the Heated Cat Pad?
The Heated Cat Pad is a comfortable indoor sleeping pad you plug into an electrical outlet to help your cat stay warm. The Heated Cat Pad can be used alone or placed on top of your cat's bed. The heating pad found inside is also removable which makes it great for year-round use.

How it works:
The Heated Cat Pad is designed to remain 12 to 15 degrees above ambient air temperature and warms to your cat's normal body temperature when in use. It is ideal during the winter for senior and arthritic cats because the warm surface helps to relax muscles and reduce joint inflammation and stiffness. Please note the Heated Cat Pad does not get hot.
Cautions:
Always unplug the Heated Cat Pad from outlet when not in use.
Directions:
- Carefully position heating pad between foam pieces and close the opening so your cat cannot remove the heating pad. When in use, check the pad to ensure proper positioning.
- Turn the pad so the cord is exiting the back of the pad, away from the normal path traveled by your cat.
- When cleaning the cover, unplug and remove the heating pad so you do not subject it to being immersed in liquids or cleaners.
- Remove cover for washing.
Tip:
After operating 1-2 hours, place your hands on your cat's new Heated Cat Pad for 20-30 seconds, applying pressure. Sitting on your Heated Cat Pad is the best way to feel the radiant warmth your cat will enjoy. The Heated Cat Pad is designed to provide mild radiant warmth and does not get hot.

Purrfect!
Purchased this product for my 14 yr old little girl. She LOVES it! Only heats up when she lays on it so I can leave it plugged in when not at home versus a heating pad that stays on all of the time. I recommend this product highly!

TOO HOT!!
I have bought K&H electric cat beds and they work great. This pad over heated....too hot for me to lay my hand on it. Poor kitty kept jumping off of it!
But 1800petmeds refunded my money, and I will buy a different bed from them. Great company!

Therapy for my elderly kitty
After reading the other reviews, I bought one of these pads for my oldest cat who suffers from arthritis. Had a hard time getting her to use it at first, so I laid one of my husband's dirty undershirts on top of it! TA DA!! She doesn't want to leave it. I've ordered two more for her other favorite napping spots in the house. I'm hoping to see improvement in her arthritis like the other reviewers reported.

Love it!
Even though we don't live in a cold climate, my cat literally spends hours on the heated pad. The covering is nice and soft. It would help if the cord were just a bit longer to allow more options for placement.

Excellent Cat Bed
This heated pad was an excellent solution for our cats! Once I decided having the cats sleep on the bed at night was too much - I felt guilty locking them out of the bedroom at night. Now with this heated cat pad, I know that they are comfortable and warm - and I am guilt - free! It has also given the cats their own "spot" on the couch, while also keeping the rest of the couch hair free. Excellent find! Would definitely recommend.

Great for Older cats
I have an older cat who really enjoys this heating pad. Especially as the temperatures have gotten colder, he has been using it more and more frequently. It is a great item and definitely worth the little hair it will collect. After all, who doesn't like a nice hot massage on achy joints?

Relief from Arthritis
My 18 year old cat stopped coming up the steps from the cold damp basement where we keep the litter box. She walked like she was in pain, and someone suggested a heating pad to help her. I found the Heated Cat Pad and after only a month, she is upstairs all the time now! I believe the heat has helped her arthritis and made it so she can come up the stairs again. Thank you 1800PetMeds!!!!!

What is the limitation for outdoor use--temps or rain?
I realize you don't want such a pad getting wet, but I have a covered porch, where it would not get wet. Is there some other limitation for this pad temperature-wise, where an internal thermostat can't handle outdoor below freezing temps, or such low temps might cause the pad to overheat, compared to temps seen inside? Why the inside only rating?
Thank you for your question. This product is for indoor use only so it does not have not an internal thermostat for outdoor weather conditions. The pad will not overheat as it does not get hot; it only provides mild radiant heat for your furry pal.

Can this safely be used with an extension cord?
The Heated Cat Pad has an electrical cord that is 3 feet long. As with many Heating elements it is not recommended to use any type of extension cords. You can only use a wall socket. (many times they will not heat up and or have other unforseen issues)

Can this bed be used in a barn when temps get down below freezing
Yes. The bed needs to be plugged into an electrical outlet and then the cat will lie on top of the bed. Once the cat lies on top, this will activate the heat sensor and start warming your cat.

Why recommend heated dog bed for cats ?
The response from PetMeds to the Q wondering if the indoor, heated cat bed could be used outdoors was that it couldn't but that they did offer "http://www.1800petmeds.com/Lectro+Soft+Outdoor+Heated+Bed-prod60120.html" -- However, if looking at the Q&A for the product, it says it's not intended for use by cats...
That was like reading in a circle and very unhelpful.
What IS the recommendation for heated beds for cats ?
I'm very sorry that the answer you received was not helpful to you. The Heated Cat Pad is for indoor use only. We also have a Heated Cat Perch which is also indoors use only. All of our heated dog products are intended for use by dogs only. We do not have any heated product to be used outdoors for cats.

Can this be left unattended at night? Will it be a fire hazard?
We let a stray cat sleep on a couch in the garage at night. This would be ideal. I am just worried about the prospect of a fire.
The Heated Cat Pad is only activated when a cat sits on the pad. The pad has been tested for safety and does not cause fire.
