What is Glyco-Flex II?
Glyco-Flex II is a joint supplement (stage II of the comprehensive Glyco-Flex program for dogs) used for maintaining healthy joints. Glyco-Flex II is recommended by veterinarians for dogs with a moderate need for joint support, adult and maturing pets, sporting and working breeds, as well as a follow-up to orthopedic surgery. How it works:
The active ingredients include glucosamine and Perna Canaliculus (green lipped mussel). Glucosamine is a natural compound that is found in healthy cartilage in both humans and pets. It helps hydrate healthy joints by increasing the production of molecules that bind and hold water in the cartilage. Healthy cartilage provides cushioning which helps protect a pet's joints while exercising. Many believe that it provides clinical benefit in the synovial fluid by strengthening cartilage and aiding glycosaminoglycan synthesis. Further research on the effectiveness of glucosamine is still needed, but many of our customers find it to be very beneficial to their pets.
Cautions:
Diabetic pets or pets that are overweight and have problems with glucose tolerance should have their blood sugars monitored if they are given glucosamine supplements.

What is this product used for:
Glyco-Flex II for Dogs represents Stage II of the comprehensive stage of life program for moderate support of joint dysfunction and for connective tissue health in dogs. Glyco-Flex II is recommended for adult and maturing dogs, sporting or working breeds, as well as a follow up to orthopedic surgery.
Availability:
Glyco-Flex II for Dogs is a non-prescription (OTC) product.
How should this product be used:
The usual dose of Glyco-Flex II for Dogs for the first 4-6 weeks in dogs up to 30 lbs is 1/2 tablet. For dogs 31-60 lbs use 1 tablet, for dogs 61-100 lbs use 2 tablets and for dogs 101 lbs and over use 2 1/2 tablets. The maintenance dose for dogs up to 30 lbs is 1/2 tablet every other day, for dogs 31-60 lbs is 1/2 tablet, for dogs 61-100 lbs is 1 tablet, for dogs 101 lbs and over is 1 1/2 tablets daily.
In the event of overdose:
Contact a veterinarian or veterinary emergency room.
What are the side effects:
There are no reported side effects.
What special precautions are there:
This product is for animal use in dogs only. Glucosamine, in humans, may increase insulin resistance and consequently affect glucose tolerance. Diabetic dogs or dogs that are overweight and have problems with glucose tolerance should have their blood sugars monitored if they are given glucosamine supplements.
How should I store this product:
Store in a cool, dry place. Keep out of the reach of children and animals.
Directions:
- Glyco-Flex II Tablets for Dogs should be given with food.
- If giving more than 1 tablet daily, divide between AM and PM.
Tip:
Diabetic dogs should have their blood glucose monitored when taking glucosamine supplements.

Excellent supplement!
I have 2 dogs on this supplement and I am very pleased with the results. I've seen some improvement in my 10 year old lab mix since she's been on it. But my 12 year old boy, he honestly acts like a puppy again. We have a 3 year old dog too and he keeps up with her with no problem.

My dog has been taking glucosamine chewables for years, and I thought I would try another brand. After looking at this one and reading the reviews I thought I would give it a try. After a month my dog had no relief. He was limping and sore all the time. I put him back on the glucosamine vitamins I was giving him before and after 2 weeks he was getting better.

My dog is 58 pounds about 8 years old. Right on the borderline. He's been on 1 pill a day for about 2 weeks. Still has some problems getting up and down of the couch if he lays too long. He does seem to be moving a lettle better. Probably just need to give it more time.

It seems to work!
Stan has been taking Glyco-Flex II for over a month and he seems to have more get up and go! Being 11 years old and 120 lbs. he was having lots of issues with his hind quarters. No hip displasia but wobbly legs and such. He now has less trouble moving around and even runs around like he used to do.

Glyco-Flex II
My greyhound, Randy, will be nine soon. He weighs 86 pounds. He has had severe pain in his right shoulder since we adopted him in 2008. My vet suggested Glyco-Flex II, I give him a pill a day now (started out with two a day), and he is a different dog!
I wouldn't go without Glyco-Flex II

Outstanding OTC Pet Product
My toy size breed canine has been on Glyco-Flex II for two solid years now. She is 9 and is bouncing around and running after that same squirrel that seems to follow her everywhere! Whether she's at the park or in the backyard, my dog can run, run and run after the squirrel enemy. Before Glyco-Flex II, one Vet wanted to operate on her kneecaps at a cost of $850.00 per knee!. After Glyco-Flex II, she is not limping at all! She continues her quest to eliminate that squirrel (wherever he may be next!).

I'm wondering about side effects...
The product claims there are no side effects, but my dog suddenly is plagued by itchy, runny, ugly ears. This is only since she has been on a regular regimen of GlycoFlex. Could the Brewer's Yeast be affecting her ears?

Trial and error. If the dog will not chew it, crush it and sneak it into his dog food or hide in a piece of meat.

what is the difference between glyco.flexII &glyco.flex III
Thanks for your question. Glyco-Flex III contains 250 mg more Glucosamine HCL and 500 more milligrams of Methylsulfonylmethane or MSM. Glyco-Flex III is also indicated for 'Stage Three" joint health need. Glyco-Flex III has the following added ingredients that are not in Glyco-Flex II: They are:
Vitamin C 30 mg
Vitamin E 50 I.U.
Grapeseed Extract 5 mg
L-Glutathione 2 mg
and Selenium 0.002mg,
again, Glyco-Flex III has higher doses of MSM and Glucosamine which are both essential for joint health in advanced joint degeneration.

Is there a shelf life on the bite-sized chews. My vet ordered these and their label indicated discard by 10/10/11. I just got them 4-21-11
Thanks for your question. The manufacturer's label clearly has the expiration date printed on the label's side, vertically. For example, turning Glyco-Flex II on it's side you can read the lot number and the last 4 numbers are the expiration date consisting of the month and the year of expiration. Mine reads 0613. My dog's Glyco-Flex II is fresh through 6/30/2013!

glyco-flex II, 90 CT
Glyco-flex II, 90 count was perscribed by vet when the dog is dianosed bilateral hip dysplasia when the border collie was about six month old a month ago. The dog just had a FHO surgery on one hip about 14 days ago. The question is should the pet taking same amount per day which is 1 pill or 1/2 now? He started the med. on 8/13/11, last month. According to the vet who discribed this med: after taking 30 day for 1/per, will reduce to 1/2 per day (before surgery).

Thanks for your question. Typically, Glyco-Flex II is given by the dog's weight initially. After a 4-6 week period of daily dosing, in your dog's case, 1 tablet daily, the dog's dose should drop to the maintenance dose of 1/2 tablet daily. I take it from your description your dog is between 31 and 60 pounds. Regardless of the surgery, continue the maintenance program of 1/2 tab daily since it is now May of 2012 way past the 4-6 week 'start up' period. Initially, the daily dosing began August of 2011; therefore your dog is well over the initial 4-6 week period for the daily full dose. And be faithful with the product. Try not to miss his half tablet maintenance dose because it is essential to maintain an effective blood level of Glyco-Flex II. Consult your DVM if your 7 month old puppy is not progressing after surgery with this maintenance dosing. Perhaps your DVM would chose adjuvant drug therapy. All this means is while the pup is healing from surgery, your Vet may add another drug product!
