What is Dasuquin with MSM for Dogs?
Dasuquin with MSM is a comprehensive joint health supplement for dogs containing proprietary ingredients, which goes above and beyond standard glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate supplements. It has the same ingredients as Dasuquin, but with the addition of MSM, which helps to relieve pain and inflammation.

How it works:
Dasuquin contains avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU), which have shown to help protect cartilage and improve joint function. The ASU also helps potentiate the activity of Glucosamine and chondroitin. The combination of all three ingredients supports cartilage production and blocks enzymes that break down cartilage in your pet's body. Glucosamine is a natural compound that is found in healthy cartilage in both humans and pets. It helps hydrate healthy joints by increasing the production of molecules that bind and hold water in the cartilage. Healthy cartilage provides cushioning which helps protect a pet's joints while exercising. Further research on the effectiveness of glucosamine is still needed, but many of our customers find it to be very beneficial to their pets. How should this product be used:
Dasuquin with MSM for Small to Medium Dogs for the initial 4 to 6 week administration period for dogs weighing less than 10 lbs give 1/2 chewable tablet daily. For dogs weighing 10 to 29 lbs give 1 chewable tablet daily and for dogs 30-59 lbs give 2 chewable tablets daily. The suggested maintenance level for dogs less than 10 lbs is 1/2 chewable tablet daily, for dogs 10 to 29 lbs give 1/2 chewable tablet daily and for dogs 30 to 59 lbs give 1 chewable tablet daily.
Dasuquin with MSM for Large Dogs (60-120 lbs) for the initial 4 to 6 week administration period give 2 chewable tablets daily. The suggested maintenance level is to give 1 chewable tablet daily.
Dasuquin with MSM chewable tablets can be given as a treat or crumbled and mixed with food.

How should I store this product:
Store in a cool, dry area out of direct sunlight. Keep lid tightly closed to ensure freshness. Keep bottle out of reach of children.
Directions:
- Allow 4-6 weeks to note a response, though some dogs may respond sooner.
- If desired, the number of tablets may then be reduced to a maintenance level.
- Once consistent improvement is noted at the maintenance level, administration may be further reduced to every other day.
- The maintenance level can also be used long-term on healthy dogs to help support their joints.
Tip:
Diabetic dogs should have their blood glucose monitored when taking glucosamine supplements.

No good
I tried this product w/my lab mix & my dog ended up sleeping A LOT! Did not improve mobility & in fact she ended up so stiff she could not pick up a biscuit from the floor without pain.
Had used the Dasuquin Chewables previously & had much better results! We will be going back to that.

Great for large dogs
I have 2 Great Dane,, one is 195 lbs, he has some issues with arthritis , the vet said try this,, much more $$$ in the vets office,, so I went here .its a fab fab product ..he moves better, has still issues but nothing like before!!!,

Excellent product that really works
Our now 9 year old black lab named Chelsea has had joint problems for a few years now, diagnosed with ACL tear. She did not want to go for walks anymore. Our vet suggested cold laser therapy and Dasuquin with MSM. She has been on the Dasuqin for about 6 months now and she now enjoys her walks again, does not just lie or sit all day and this product really has helped her. I was not sure if it would help, but we gave it a try and so glad we did. She does not like to take pills so we crush it and put it in her food morning and night. I highly recommend this.

Immediate improvement for us
The end of August my 167 lbs German Shep/Great Dane mix jumped up quickly to chase the "deer family" from the yard and in doing so he hurt his hind quarters, which seemed to be heading for hip problems anyway this incident cause him so much pain he was rushed to vets, got morphine shot, put on RX of Tramadol 2 pils 2xs day as well as Carprofen 150 mgs 2xs day ( he was hyper towards rimidal) the addition of this Dasuquin had eliminated the popping sound from his body and he moves better. NOT a miracle but close too for us!

Save Your Money...
So, after reading most of the reviews before purchase...I was very optimistic this product would be exactly what my 11 year old GSD needed to ease any aches & pains she may be experiencing.
Sadly, I noticed no difference. I followed the instructions and gave her 2 tablets daily for a couple of weeks then 1 tablet daily thereafter.
I won't be reordering.

Does the trick...
I purchased this for my two small dogs (6lbs and 15lbs). My little guy, (6lbs) has auto-immune disease, and as a result has very swollen joints that cause him to limp when he walks. Unfortunately there is no cure for this, so the best thing I can do is just ease his pain. Since I cannot give him a pain medication such as rimadyl or metacam everyday because it would do more damage than good, I looked into Dasuquin with pain relieving MSM. I'm happy to say that Tristan's limp has seriously improved within the first week of use. He's still needs a little warming up after initially getting up from laying down, but his limping during walks has improved.
My other guy has a damaged hip socket, and I can tell his movements have been easier...especially in the cold weather that is now approaching. he used to hold up his bad leg, and although he favors it when its very cold it's not as bad.
Tristan will eat just about anything, so he's happy to take the chewable tablet out of my hand like a treat. Oscar is a little more weary but he eats it when I cut it in half and add it to his food.
All-in-all I'm extremely happy to have found a supplement that helps alleviate my dogs pain! Just wish the price was a little better, but I guess you can't put a price on the health and happiness of your animals!

I have two Yorkies (ages10 & 8). Both have the patella problems but the oldest had to have surgery on both knees at our state university vet school. Part of the post operative written instructions stated to put him on Dasuquin. I went ahead and put both dogs on this drug. I can't swear that the improvements in both dogs is due to Dasuquin but I can't find any other reason. My female (the youngest) will not take the pill as a treat but they mash into powder very easily and I put it over her dry grain. This is the only reason I gave a 4 star under taste.

My dog is on meloxicam and gabapentin. Is this okay to take with these medication?
Dasuquin has no adverse side effects. Therefore, it is safe to use this product in conjunction with meloxicam and gabapentin. As always, it is recommended to consult with your veterinarian to make sure it is safe for your furry baby to take this supplement along with the meloxicam and gabapentin.

Is it a chewable? And if so, what type? Tablet, soft-chew, etc.? Your description needs to include this type of information, as well as quantity (easily identifiable in the description). It's hard to find this information.

Can the meds be taken with a baby aspirin?
My 18 year old Beagle/Jack Russel mix is on a one a day 81mg aspirin regimen. Can this be taken with the aspirin?

does it work for large breed dogs?
Our black lab retriever has been on this for about 6 months with no side effects, but lots of benefits - we give it to her twice a day and I have noticed if we run out and miss a day she will start limping. She now plays with our 2-1/2 year old black male puppy and goes for long walks and is not limping. I would try it, would not hurt to try, and I don't think there is anything in the contents of this med to over do the dosage. I would give it 2-3 weeks to show the improvement before giving up on it.

Should I follow the initial dose?
My dog weighs 35 pounds and will be 11 this Christmas. She shows no joint issues at all and is very active. That being the case should the recommended 4 to 6 week 'initial dose' apply to her? It seems she should be able to have a maximum of a 2 to 4 week 'initial dose' regimen at the most. I don't want to overmedicate her.
