How it works:

Cats Wont Touch it
I purchased this hoping my cats would eat it if I mixed it with their food. They normally attack their food but smelled the Petromalt and wouldnt go near their bowls.
I had to put some on my finger and hold their mouths open in order to get them to swallow it. They weren't happy.
If the package didn't say Cats Love It! I wouldnt have expected them to eat it.
I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have used several products and his one was introduced to me by my mother who is a cat lover. Well, my two cats have long hair so it was frequent this symptom and I didn't know what to do so my mother recommended it and after three doses..no more hairballs, no more throw up to pick up....WE ARE SO HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS

Changed formula
I have used this in the past and my cat would not hesitate to eat it. I purchased more recently - same item and flavor and she won't touch it. They must have changed the formula.

Not the same product as before!!
My cat won't eat this NEW Petromalt. I'm very disappointed in the fact that the formula has been changed and after using this for 15+ yrs, my cat refuses to eat it. After looking at the ingredients list, I found that the malt flavoring is now about 4-5 on the list of ingredients, whereas before it was second on the list. So now that it smells differently, my cat won't touch it. It doesn't even have a malt "smell" to it. You've screwed up big time with your new product. I won't be buying it again and I'll get my money back on the tube that I did purchase. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Big mistake in changing the ingredients.

I am the Mom of 2 cats: Malcolm and Lil Shaver. Malcolm licks the medicine right off my finger. He loves it! No more barfing!
But, Lil Shaver won't lick it off my finger. She's pretty temperamental. We need to figure out how to get rid of hair balls with her.
But, Malcolm just loves Petmalt!

How often do you apply it?

Best Hair ball remady
Have 4 cats that refuse any malt, Help
Put a nickle size squeeze of petromalt in a very little dish, and add some tuna water from a can of tuna (say 2 teaspoons) and mix it until the petromalt is blended. I buy the store brand of chunk light in water (.79 cents a can). Chunk light definitely has more liquid than albacore. Store the tuna in the frig for the next application in a few days, and after you use all the liquid from the can, give the tuna to the cat. Cheap enough.

How do you use it?
The best way to use it, I found, is
1st: try giving it to your cat on your finger.
2nd: If that doesn't work, wipe just above the cat's paw, on the inside where the paw and leg meet. WAYYY easier and less traumatic than force-feeding.
3rd: If all else fails, as in my case, I purchased a lesser product and put a half dose of each on top of each other... easy as masking a taste until the 'kitt'le got used to the new treat.
Cats are like kids, sometimes they refuse to try something new until they have no choice (like when it's on their fur...). Eventually, they'll line up when they see the tube LOL

My question is below:
Is your petromalt new? Sergeants made petromalt and changed the ingredients recently and most cats HATE IT. They run away and my friends cat got sick. I called Sergeants and they did in fact add something to it...........they said that they received MANY complaints. They will be going back to the original, however, they did not have a date. I was told not to buy any petromalt with "WWW" on the outside of the box.
I will order it if this is the NEWEST petromalt, otherwise I have no choice but to wait until it is in the stores again where I can see the code on the box. Please let me know. I am interested in the malt flavor one. Thank you!.
Yes you are correct, they have changed the formula unfortunately we do not know when the old version will be available again. You may want to try Laxatone, it comes in tuna or original flavor and works great! :)

Why my Cat Sneezes
My Cat Fluffy sneezes a lot and has done this for months. She does not have a cold maybe she has allergies. Not sure. What would be a good cure for this. Or do I need to take her to the Vet. ??
It won't be fun but, maybe have the vet or a groomer give kitty a bath to get dead hair and dandruff off. Absolutely wash any cloth materials (including toys) he/she lays on and vacuum areas where kitty hangs out. If you use litter that is clay-based, it produces dust no matter what you do... try an alternative litter like feline-pine or even an unscented litter. That should help alleviate allergens your cat is most-likely to be exposed to.
