What is Advantage Treatment Spray?

Advantage Treatment Spray comes in a convenient spray bottle, and repels and kills fleas, ticks and lice on your dog or cat. It contains three active ingredients that all work together to kill adult fleas, flea eggs, and flea larvae, which stops the fleas' lifecycle and leaves your pet completely flea-free. Along with fleas, Advantage Treatment Spray also kills ticks that may carry Lyme disease, and lice, which just like fleas and ticks also feed on your pet's blood. One powerful application works on contact for existing fleas and repels fleas, ticks and lice, so pests will think twice before hopping onto your precious pet. Plus, it's long-lasting and continues to protect your pet for 100 days. Don't forget to treat all the other areas in your home to really eradicate a flea infestation. Please Note: Not available for sale in Hawaii.

For:

Dogs (over 6 months old) & Cats (over 7 months old)

Benefits:
  • Kills and repels fleas, ticks and lice on your pet, so you don't have to worry about annoying pest bites
  • Contains an insect growth regulator to kill adult fleas, flea larvae and hatching eggs for up to 100 days
  • Helps control flea bite dermatitis by killing existing biting fleas
  • Reduces the risk of a tickborne disease by killing ticks that may carry Lyme disease
  • Easy-to-use spray-on treatment gets every inch of your pet's body
How it Works:

Advantage Treatment Spray contains the active ingredient Nylar, an insect growth regulator that kills larvae, and stops eggs from hatching into biting adult fleas. The second active ingredient is Pyrethrins, an insecticide that kills pests on contact, and the third active ingredient enhances the power of the Pyrethrins. In combination, these three powerful ingredients kill adult fleas and hatching fleas for 100 days, and continue to protect your pet by preventing the fleas' development into the biting stage.

What is availability of Advantage Treatment Spray:

Advantage Treatment Spray is a non-prescription (OTC) product.

How should Advantage Treatment Spray be used:

Advantage Treatment Spray comes in a convenient spray bottle, and repels and kills fleas, ticks and lice on your dog or cat. It contains three active ingredients that all work together to kill adult fleas, flea eggs, and flea larvae, which stops the fleas' lifecycle and leaves your pet completely flea-free. Along with fleas, Advantage Treatment Spray for dogs and cats also kills ticks that may carry Lyme disease, and lice, which just like fleas and ticks feed on your pet's blood. Cover your pet's eyes with one hand. Do not spray directly in mouth, nose or eyes. Spray your pet's head, ears and chest until damp. With your fingertips, rub into your pet's face and around the mouth, nose and eyes. Then spray pet from neck to tail, finishing at your pet's legs. For best penetration of spray to skin and on heavy-coated pets, directly spray against the natural lay of the hair, spraying the ruffled hair directly behind the head. Make sure to thoroughly wet ticks. When used on cats and miniature and toy breeds of dogs, towel dry after hour if not totally dry. Avoid contact with your pet's genitalia. Repeat as required but not more often than every 7 days (1 week).

For puppies over 6 months and kittens over 7 months:

Wrap your puppy or kitten in a towel that has been sprayed lightly with Advantage Treatment Spray. Leave your pet's eyes, nose and mouth exposed. Put some spray on your finger and gently rub around your pet's eyes, nose and mouth area. Keep your pet wrapped up for 5-10 minutes. Fleas may then be removed from the coat by picking or combing them. For best results, all pets in your home should be treated with this product to prevent reinfestation. Do not spray directly onto your puppy or kitten and avoid the genitalia. Repeat as required, but not more than once every 14 days (2 weeks).

What are the side effects of Advantage Treatment Spray:

Individual sensitivities while rare, may occur after using any pesticide product. Certain medications may interact with pesticides. If signs of sensitivity occur, contact your veterinarian immediately.

What special precautions are there:

Harmful if swallowed or absorbed through skin. Causes moderate eye irritation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling and before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the toilet. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Consult your vet before using on debilitated, aged, pregnant or nursing pets. Sensitivities may occur after using any pesticide product on pets. If signs of sensitivity occur, bathe your pet with mild soap and rinse with large amounts of water. If signs continue, consult a veterinarian immediately.

If in eyes:

Hold eyes open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15-20 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing. Call a physician if irritation persists.

If swallowed:

Call a poison control center or a doctor for treatment advice. Do not induce vomiting unless told to by a doctor or poison control center. Do not give any liquids. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Advantage Treatment Spray is rated 3.3333 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Stuff I have a tiny dog and using the monthly oily neck ointment was a bad option for her. I did not expect the product to work. It did immediately and now I only need too treat her when she has them rather than monthly. Get this stuff. It works and you do no over medicate when not needed. Yay. It has a smell but it really is minimal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product When I bought this product, I was desperate. My home and animals were covered in fleas. It seemed as if the fleas at gotten bad over night. I have two dogs and a cat (i also bought the cat spray). As soon as the product arrived (which was faster than expected) I treated them all. With in seconds of spraying my dogs, I was pulling dead fleas off of them. I was shocked at how fast this product worked. I think the only issue I had with this product is that the odor is extremely strong. If you have larger dogs, I would recommend that you spray them down outside.

Advantage Treatment Spray for Cats

Hello. I need flea spray for my 2 cats. They are constantly "bathing" themselves, and I worry about any kind of flea or tick spray making them sick because I'm sure they will lick it. Will this be a problem, or is it safe in this respect. Thanks very much for your help.
Asked by: Kim
try your best to keep them distracted until the product dries. Give them a favorite treat or play with a toy with them.

If I just applied this yesterday. Is it to early to give my dog a bath? would I need to reapply it?

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question. You should only reapply this once a week, no more than that. If you wash your dog it must be 24-48 hours before the application of the spray.

How do you stop your pet from licking and swallowing this product?

How do you stop your pet from licking after you spray them? They would end up swallowing and ingesting some of the pesticide then.

Is Advantage Treatment Spary used in addition to using the regular fleas treatment, Advangage II?

I use Advantage II on my three cats, but I have breakthrough fleas during the hot summer since they are inside/outside cats. Is it harmful to use the Advantage Spray treatment in addition to the monthly treatments?
