What is EasySpot for Cats?

EasySpot for Cats is a topical flea, tick and lice treatment developed specifically for cats. The waterproof solution kills adult fleas before they lay eggs, ticks, and chewing lice, and prevents infestations for one full month. The easy to use applicator is applied to a single spot and provides pest protection for cats of all sizes. Gentle enough for use on kittens eight weeks of age or older.

How it Works:

EasySpot for Cats contains fipronil, a parasiticide that targets the nervous system of pests. The topical treatment is applied to the skin and spreads into the hair follicles, killing adult fleas before they lay eggs, ticks (brown dog ticks, deer ticks, American dog ticks and lone star ticks) that may transmit Lyme disease and chewing lice.

What is this product used for:

EasySpot for Cats contains fipronil, a parasiticide that kills fleas, ticks, and chewing lice by targeting the nervous system, resulting in hyperexcitability and death.

Availability:

EasySpot for Cats is a non-prescription product.

How this product should be used:

The topical solution should be applied monthly to a single spot between a cat's shoulder blades. Monthly application is recommended for control of flea, tick and chewing lice infestations. Only one applicator per treatment is needed. Repeat application may be made if necessary, but do not apply more often than once every 30 days.

What are the side effects:

Rarely, sensitivities may occur after using any pesticide product. Cats may experience some temporary irritation at the site of product application. If signs persist, or become more severe within a few days of application, consult a veterinarian immediately. Certain medications can interact with pesticides. Consult a veterinarian before using on medicated, debilitated or aged cats.

What special precautions are there:

For external use only. For use on cats and kittens only. Do not use on kittens less than eight (8) weeks of age. Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing.

How should I store this product:

Store in original package in a cool, dark place away from children and pets.

Directions:

Remove one tube from the package.
Hold the tube with the narrow tip up and snip off the end at the notches with scissors.
Turn the tube over and use the opened tip to part the cat's hair between the shoulder blades.
Firmly squeeze to apply all of the solution to the cat's skin in a single spot on the cat's back.

Tip:

Apply year round, every 30 days for maximum flea and tick protection. Wait 24 hours after treatment to bathe cat.

With direction from my vet, I am able to use this product safely every 21 days, from late Spring to early fall. Previously 3 of my cats died from this awful disease carried by ticks, because I was not able to use a treatment sooner than 4-6 wks.

I too live in NC and this is a very tick-intensive area. I worked in veterinary research for the ministry of agriculture and I had cats all my life (65+years) I have never seen such an aggressive tick infestation as in NC. Not just for my cats, but with me as well! This year it is even worse than last year. I built a wire dog-run on my deck to allow the cats some feel of nature while trying to avoid grass & leaves contact. It worked with two cats but the third one being a born feral cat found a way to escape by climbing the wire! When he returned he contaminated the others. All I can do is to use shampoo in between applications. This active ingredient worked well in VA, it is almost pointless in NC… But there is hope for us. I being a scientist I researched high & low for a complement to EasySpot and I may have found it. It is sold for mosquito infestation (which we have in NC worse than in the Everglades) I studied the active ingredient and it is a naturally occurring bio product harmless to animals, even to frogs. I will use it in my backyard and see what happens. The idea is to minimize the degree of infestation to allow EasySpot to do its work under normal conditions. These people have six cats; there may be a cross contamination situation here too.

We tried bringing him in, but he wasn't having it, so by his choice, he lives in his little house on our back porch.. Took him to the vet for an exam in June.. The vet gave us EasySpot for fleas/ticks and we used it on him June, July, and August... We didn't see one flea or one tick all summer long... Sept, October, and November, I used Frontline from the local pet store and the poor guy had new ticks on him literally every other day.. I just found a tick on him last week during a Pennsylvania winter! Aren't those things supposed to be gone by now?? Going back to EasySpot and hoping we continue to have the success that we did this summer!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by tick from Works slowly but surely There was no immediate effect, but 2 weeks later I could not find fleas on my cats.It is important to maintain applications as directed d/t fleas go through the cycle of development and if you stop, you will see them coming back.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Graham&Ericka from Unfortunately, not a great pick. The product was easy to apply, but I guess all cats are different. This product is supposed to last for 1 month. Only 2 weeks after application we started seeing flees. With 6 cats, spending $100 every 2 weeks is ridiculous and expensive. We cannot spend our money on something that does not work. The calendar stickers provided were a nice touch, but unfortunately I do not recommend the product.

is easy spot the same as Frontline

In my experience, it's 100% more effective with ticks than frontline... Our outdoor cat had not one tick or flea all summer long while using this product.. We used Frontline during Sept, Oct, and Nov and this poor guy had new ticks literally every other day.. Frontline was a complete waste of money!
