Not Safe!!
My Jack Russell Terrier chewed Mr. Gumby's head off, swallowing a portion of it, on first day!!! Fortunately he passed this in his stool 3 days later.
DO NOT SUGGEST BUYING THIS TOY IF YOUR DOG IS A STRONG CHEWER!

long lasting for a young lab!!
My lab, 1 1/2 yrs loves this. Have had toy for over 6 months, arms are now off, but she has to have her Gumby! She is a chewer but for some reason wants to keep this toy around. It is the go to throw and fetch toy. Highly recommend for a lab.

My dog chewed it up almost immediately
I bought this for a puppy, but my adult cock-a-poo begged for it, so I gave it to her instead and I' m really glad I did. As soon as she got it, she chewed off the hand. I was afraid she'd swallow everything she chewed off, so I took it away from her. She loved it, but it didn't hold up to her chewing. I've gone back to giving her bone and deer antler.

Dangerous If Swallowed!
I've worked at an emergency vet's office, and when I saw this product being listed on sale, I knew I needed to leave a review. We had a yellow lab come in with trouble, and after an x-ray, we had to do an exploratory surgery. The dog had chewed off one of the legs of this toy and swallowed a piece about the size of a military dog tag. Luckily the pet owner, a college student, was able to get money from her parents to pay for this expensive surgery, and we were able to extract the piece of rubber and save the dog. I don't recommend allowing a dog to chew on a toy this rigid and indigestible without supervision. Even rawhide chews can cause major problems. I prefer natural bones for my dog, especially knuckle bones with some of the natural flavoring on them. They seem to last forever. However, you should still be cautious that they do not swallow something they shouldn't.

Horrible Taste
My dog would not chew gumby because of the strong rubber taste and smell (imagine bag of rubber bands). I tried washing it but that didn't help.

I have a one year old Papillon....I have yet to find a toy that he can't destroy almost instantly. This one was gone in less than a day. That being said, can't say one way or another whether it would be a good buy for others. Depends on the dog, I guess.

Great Toy for Chewers!!
My black lab really gives any toy a run for its money when it comes to chewing! He is really hard on a chew toy. This Gumby toy gave him hours of enjoyment.....it took him about 2 months to completely eat this toy. He also enjoyed how he could maneuver it with his paws...he would hold it straight up in the air and work hours on trying to eat him. I thought the arms would be the first to go, but actually, they were the last to go! He totally LOVED his gumby...am replacing the last one now! Buy it...your dog will thank you for it!!!

Best toy ever
I know its hard to believe, but I brought this thing home five years ago, and my now 11 year old german shepp is still ripping away at it. She finally got the second harm off and is now working on the face. I will by a new one just as soon as I finish writting this. Its cool to see the old girl playing like a puppy.

Does it stretch like the real gumby?
My American Bull destroys toys within minutes and about the only thing that has lasted any amount of time is tire like materials. The soft ones w/stuffing get torn and shredded and w/o stuffing he tries to swallow, when it gets soggy enuff. Need something that stretches or is cylindrical enuff so he can't get a bite out of it and rubber is usually better.

my dog eats every toy we have got him, will this harm him if he swallows it?
Our 40 lb. French Bulldog is the same way with his toys. I imagine that any toy they swallow pieces of would be hazardous, especially if they choke. The only two brands that have survived in our house are the Kong & Tuffy. I'd still buy Gumby 'cause I just can't resist!
