The numbers don't lie :)
Last April our 14 year old chocolate lab was diagnosed with renal disease with approx 25% kidney function. By June it had dropped to approx 13% function. He was then started on Epakitin and was retested yesterday (approx 4 months after starting the product). We just got the call . . . his numbers have not changed since his June test. We are thrilled to say the least!!

19-yr. old cat was diagnosed with kidney disease 18 mo. ago. Bloodwork numbers were going down (bad). A friend recommended Epakitin. Within 2 days, the cat got up off the sofa, started eating, he's gained weight, and got back to living again! Best of all, bloodwork numbers WENT UP (vet was amazed)!! I never ever thought this stuff would work, but it did!!! SO SO SO glad I bought this product, I highly recommend it!!

Wonderful
After my adopted cat was diagnosed with renal failure, this was prescribed. Just 1 spoonful mixed in with her food has brought great results. After only one week, she has put on one ounce! This is definitely a step in the right direction. This supplement works!

Windy was in total Kidney failure in Sept 2013. Using this and Azodyl. Her #'s went fromm BUN77 to BUN 33!! This doesn't happen!! Between Prayers and GODs guidance she is doing great!!

Remarkable product...a lifesaver
Buttercup was diagnosed with severe kidney failure in Spring of 2010 and i was told that I should probably put her down....she was only 6 years old and by the time they had her stabilized and diagnosed I was $1200 in. I had the choice of having a $1200 dead cat or seeing her through and hoping for the best. While the total initial care rose to about 3x that amount and the special food and meds have added a few thousand more over the time since then, she is now nearly 10 years old and her kidney failure has gone from severe down to moderate....very rare for that to happen I am told. The only meds she has been on that entire time is Epikitin....so needless to say, it come HIGHLY recommended by me. I am very grateful for the extra time I have had with my sweetie Buttercup

significant improvement in 2 week
My cat's vet prescribed epakitin for my 16 year old cat after his test results showed his phosphorous levels were above normal. he has chronic kidney disease. After about 2 weeks of daily use twice a day, went for a recheck and the phosphorous levels are now normal.
6/14/2013: Phosphorus 9.200 mg/dL
6/29/2013: Phosphorus 5.7 mg/dL
normal range is 2.400 - 8.200 mg/dL

A Lifesaver... Seriously.
In October 2010, my 11-ish-year-old Bella hid under the bed for almost a solid week. When we were finally able to get her to come out, she could barely walk a straight line and even collapsed to the floor once or twice before I scooped her up a took her to our vet. She was diagnosed with acute kidney failure and spent 5 days in the hospital. The doctor started her on Azodyl twice a day, Epakitin once a day, and subcutaneous fluids every other day. We were able to stop the fluids after 3 months. (Actually, we HAD to stop the fluids: she had recovered so well that her fight was back in full force.) Nine months later, her labs were within normal limits. We almost lost her, but now we look forward to another few years with our girl.

No No the Short Haired Domestic from
So Far, So Good
When No-No, ~15 year old boy cat wasn't eating or drinking, we took him to the vet to find the problem. We found that he had renal failure and the prognosis was bleak, at best. So far, 4 weeks later, he is back to his "abnormal" self and all is working. The Epakitin is working! Also found out that after all these years of feeding my cats only dry food....they are really living in a constant state of dehydration, as they age. We've added wet food to the daily diet.

What kind of food?
For those finding success with this product, are you feeding your pet the prescription kidney food or regular food? My cats won't eat the prescription kidney food so I'm hoping I can use this along with regular food so they will eat.
My Yorkie would not eat the kidney food either. I have had her on this med SQ fluids daily and azodyl for 6 months. At this time labs are getting close to normal and she is her old energetic self. But....she eats regular food and has a great appetite

Hi there, Sorry to hear the issue your cat is having. When it comes to kidney disease you would need to consult with your vet before changing any medication/supplements that you give to your Furry Friend. The vet would be able to give you the proper medical advice since they know your pet the best.

Use with k/d food?
If a dog is already on food specifically for kidney health, such as Hill's k/d food, will using this product with that food have an added benefit?
This is prescribed however you are using a prescription food so you would definitely need to speak to your vet prior to using.

Dosage for Chihuahua
I have a 2 yr old that weighs between 10 to 13 bls....depends on the time of year. Can I use this as a preventative for renal failure and how much would I give her?
Thank you for your question. Each container comes with a scoop which is equivalent to 1gram. 1 gram should be given per 11lbs of body weight. This is not used as a preventative so please consult your vet prior to using this if your furry pal does not have renal failure.

How long will a bottle last?
I was wondering how long would a bottle of Epakitin last for a 7 Pound cat?

Epakitine dosage
My cat has powder put into gel capsules and we give them twice a day, morning and evening. We are away overnight and wonder if we can give the 2nd capsule before we go instead of in the evening. We leave mid afternoon and and are home by 10.30 the next morning. She would have received her morning dose about 8am on the day we go away.. Thank you for your help
Ideally, Epakitin powder should be administered in the morning and evening. Consult your veterinarian to see if the dosing regimen can be altered for your specific pet.

Do I have to separate ipakitine from antibiotics with about 2 hours, as it contains lactose?
