How it Works:
The Sentry Calming Collar mimics the pheromone that the mother dog produces to calm and reassure her puppies. Dogs recognize these pheromones throughout life and the collar works to mimic the natural way to help dogs cope with fearful situations.
Cautions:
Remove the collar before shampooing your dog and replace it after your dog's coat is dry. Do not use collar on dogs with extensive skin lesions.

The Sentry Calming Collar provides a convenient alternative to diffusers, which are limited for use in the confines of a designated room.

The Sentry Calming Collar for Dogs is a lavender chamomile fragrance non-prescription (OTC) product.
How this product should be used:
Place the collar around your dog's neck, adjusting to fit the neck comfortably. The collar must be worn loosely to allow for growth of your dog and to permit the collar to move about the neck. Generally, a properly fitted collar is one that when fastened, will snugly slide over your pet's head. Leave 2 or 3 inches for extra adjustment. Cut off the excess portion of the collar. The effects of one collar will last up to 30 days.

There are no reported side effects.
What special precautions are there:
The collar is designed to release powder when applied, which will activate the pheromones. Wash hands after placing collar on your pet. Seal collar in a plastic bag when not in use to prolong the effect. Remove the collar before shampooing your dog and replace it after your dog's coat is dry. Do not use the collar on dogs with extensive skin lesions.
In the event of overdose:
Overdose is unlikely. However, if an overdose is suspected, call a veterinarian or veterinary emergency room.
How should I store this product:
Store the unopened collar at room temperature. Keep out of the reach of children and other pets.
Directions:
- Take the collar out of the packaging and stretch to full length. The tabs that held the collar in place should fall off when stretching; pull on any remaining tabs to remove them.
- Bend the buckle in half between the holes in the buckle, so that you can easily pass the end of the collar through both holes.
- Place the collar around your dog's neck. Feed the collar through both holes, notches facing out. Fit to the neck of your dog. The collar must be worn loosely to allow for growth of your dog and to permit the collar to move about the neck. Generally, a properly fitted collar is one that, when fastened, will snugly slide over dog's head, and the two fingers can be placed between the collar and dog's neck. Leave 2 or 3 extra inches for collar adjustment, cut off remaining excess collar and dispose of in the trash.
Tip:
Seal collar in plastic bag when not in use to prolong the effectiveness of the collar.

Quiet at last!
We have a new (well, one year now) male rescue Pomeranian. He's a real beauty and fits in well with the rest of our tribe (3 others#. BUT HIS BARKING HAS BEEN DRIVING US NUTS! And, it's not just that he barks, when he starts, they all chime in! He was hyper alert. I put this collar on him last night at 6PM clear through now #noon the next day) and nary a peep from him. He is so much calmer!!! I actually have to look around to find him now - and of course the other dogs are back to normal because he isn't stirring them up!!!

didn't work
I have a 3 year old lab mix that has presented with separation anxiety issues (excessive barking, peeing/pooping in the house when we go - otherwise potty trained, pacing, tearing down curtains). The vet suggested trying the pheromone collar before trying anti-anxiety medications, I agreed as I would not like to put her on medications that aren't necessary. The collar made absolutely no difference in her behavior. We have been working on training as well, but are now seeking medications to help with her anxiety. Perhaps it works on some dogs with less severe anxiety issues.

It seemed to work immediately. We were worried about taking our 1 year old Chihuahua/Hound mix on vacation. It worked, he was on his best behavior.

Calming Collar & "Stop That" Spray
I purchased both the Sentry "Stop That!" behavior correction spray and the Calming Collar for dogs. They may be very good products, but they don't work on Terriers!! I have two terriers, an Airedale and a Lakeland Terrier. The Calming Collar did nothing. The "Stop That!" Spray got them even more excited.

Helpful Calming Collar
I purchased this collar to help stop some of the anxiety and bad behavior that our miniature Schnauzer has. I wish they came in smaller sizes for small necks without wasting half of the collar. It has helped considerably and am very happy that his barking and whining have been reduced to be tolerable now. The scent only lasts for a month so we will see how it goes after that, he smells good and is behaving better now.

calming collar
I GOT THE CALMING COLLAR FOR MY PUPPY MINIATURE SCHNAIZER. I GUESS IT HAS HELPED A LITTLE BUT HOPEFULLY SHE HAS NOT BEEN WEARING IT LONG ENOUGH. SHE IS SO VERY ANXIOUS AND AFRAID OF EVERYTHING. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL IMPROVE WITH TIME.

No Effect
We put the collar on our chihuahua, and I am not sure that there was any effect; however, later in the day, it seemed apparent that there was no change in his behavior. After a few weeks, it is clear that the collar us useless on him.

ANY REMEDY FOR SHADOW CHASING?
I HAVE A YORKIEPOO THAT CHASES SHADOWS AND REFLECTIONS. ANY REMEDIES? CAN ONLY GO IN CAR WHEN NO SUN.
This would definitely help calm them however you may need to simply work on how much exercise your dog is getting and are you giving her/him enough mental stimulation? Sometimes keeping them active will snap them out of it. Definitely speak to your vet they guide you in the right direction.

separation problem
our shitzu has major separation problems what is best to help her with this problem, we adopted her from a shelter 3 years ago, it has gotten worst in the past months.
We were told by our vet to try the calming collar first - it didn't work but have heard it works for some. I would try that first. If not go back to your vet and ask about anti-anxiety medications. Our dog was recently prescribed fluoxetine.

japanese akita?
hi i have a japanese akita, hes 4 years old, weighs over 100 lbs, he is very calm at home, for the most part, but when he goes to the kennel he is very crazy, he has servere anxiety disorder when hes there, he barks like crazy, wrecks the kennel, etc. i was wondering if this would help?
Please consult with your veterinarian. If the disorder is as severe as you are saying there may be some other options to consider.

Will it help with jumping issues
I have a 3 yr English Cocker Spaniel and I can not break her from jumping up at people when they come to the door and come into our house. She also won't stop barking at dogs that walk past our house she even knows what time they come by I have to close my blinds and I feel all shut in. I need help!!!!

I put the calming collar on Nittany, but she is still chewing her nails and pulling her fur out of her hind quarters. She has no fleas, and I am at a loss as to what to do next.
I have a Jack Russell that does the same thing. I also got the calming collar and it does not work on him.
