How this product should be used:
Proanthozone 10: The recommended maintenance dose for cats and small dogs up to 10 lbs is 1 capsule every day. For cats and small dogs 11 to 20 lbs give 2 capsules every day. The initial dose, when first starting this supplement is double the maintenance dose for the first 5 days.
Proanthozone 20: The recommended maintenance dose for dogs 10 to 20 lbs is 1 capsule every other day. For dogs 21 to 35 lbs give 1 capsule every day. For dogs 36 to 50 lbs give 2 capsules every day, for dogs 51 to 60 lbs give 2 capsules every day plus 1 additional capsule every other day. The initial dose, when first starting this supplement is double the maintenance dose for the first 5 days.
Proanthozone 50: The recommended maintenance dose for dogs 40 to 50 lbs is 1 capsule every other day. For dogs 51 to 70 lbs give 1 capsule every day. Arthritic dog on the way to recovery
My 6-year-old pug was born with a bad knee joint that began causing her arthritic pain this year. I changed her diet (now higher in protein, but she's always been fed the best foods), added both glucosamine and omega 3 supplements, and agreed to both Adaquan injections and a short-term Rimadyl prescription. While she was definitely improving, her pain between the Adaquan injections was noticeably greater and the Rimadyl eventually caused her to lose her appetite. I took her off the Rimadyl, but no prescription pain killer seemed to help her much. A month ago, I came across this supplement, bought it, and began giving it to her every day along with getting her cold laser light therapy. For the first 2.5 weeks, she had loose stool, which I didn't worry about since I knew that this might be a possible sign that the supplement had started to work. Three weeks in, my dog is getting around much better, clearly with minimal pain, and beginning to feel like her normal self. Her limp is gone, she has a little morning stiffness, but the stiffness continues to diminish with each week that she takes this supplement. What a relief! I have no doubt that this supplement has enabled her body to more rapidly and efficiently heal the problem joint. Based on the progress I've seen in 3 weeks, I'm hopeful that all signs of stiffness will soon be gone.

Slow, but very effective
My Border Collie/Lab Mix (78 pounds) had large(size of a quarter!), itchy red bumps on his back that the vet had treated with two rounds of oral antibiotics and steroids, only to return each time. She suggested expensive testing. After reading many reviews on 1-800-PetMeds, I decided to try the combination of: Proanthozone Antioxidant 50mg, Yucca Intensive Anti-Inflammatory, Super Pure Omega 3 Soft Gel Caps and 1-800-PetMeds Be Soothed 12oz Spray. He absolutely did not like when I sprayed the Be Soothed on him, after about two weeks, I came to the conclusion that this was very irritating to him and making the spots worse, so I stopped using it. When I tapered the dose of the Proanthozone, the little bit of improvement that I had seen, ceased, so I went back to the higher dose of 3 every day and that is when everything started to show great improvement! It took about 4 weeks, but they are finally starting to dry out and heal, so I am reordering the Proanthozone, Yucca Intensive and Super Pure Omega. I do have to mix all of this in with a little bit of wet food or chicken broth and dry food. Unlike others, my dog does not think any of these are treats!

A product that is dear to my heart.
PROANTHOZONE: This is a product that is especially dear to my heart as it was one of the first effective products I used back in the mid 1990s that convinced me of the value of complimentary and alternative medicine supplements and products. This powerful antioxidant which is 20 to 50 times as powerful as vitamins E and C in its antioxidant activity has a wide variety of uses in everyday veterinary medicine for both dogs and cats. The most common place I have used this versatile product is in stiff or arthritic dogs and cats. Its wonderful antioxidant and anti inflammatory effects, as well as its effect on enhancing collagen production in the body (which is the main glue of our connective tissue and joints), has been a tremendous benefit in both treating and preventing stiffness and arthritis in my practice. When combined with an excellent glucosamine product like super joint enhancer from 1800petmeds, in addition to omega 3 fatty acids added to meals, I have seen amazing clinical effects on stiff or arthritic pets, often minimizing how much conventional prescription nonsteroidal anti inflammatory medication I need to use, which thus cuts down on risks and side effects to the dog or cat. Because of its antioxidant and anti inflammatory effect, I have found proanthozone also to be useful in a plethora of other conditions, including skin allergies, blood and blood vessel disorders, and other inflammatory diseases in the body including liver disease and pancreatitis just to name a few conditions. I highly recommend and endorse this product for any pet, especially the aging dog or cat, where damaging chemicals called free radicals are produced in their bodies leading to degenerative disease of any organ system, which proanthozone can help prevent, along with a good natural diet. I find very little downside to this product, except for perhaps the expense in a larger breed of dog, but to me the preventative benefits are well worth it.
My overall rating of this product is a 5. Its effectiveness is a 4.5, and its ease of use is a 4. As with any product that comes in a capsule form, I have occasionally found it difficult to administer to cats, but many will often take it mixed in with their food.

My Boston terrier has a hyperthyroidism which is very rare in dogs, would his help him put weight back on?

What is the best way to administer to a dog?
The capsules are to be given orally. It may help to give your pet a few of his/her favorite treats in small amount before hand if your pet resists taking the capsule(s). There are also Pill Pockets available by the Greenies company that would hide the capsule. If all else still fails please consult your veterinarian for any further advice or the assistance of an animal behaviorist.

use with thyroid medication
Our 60 lb. mix has been on thyroid medication (Soloxine) for about 3 years. (.5 mg. for 2 years and now .8 mg. for the last year.) When you say to use Proanthozone on an intermittent basis what would it mean in our case?
How do I know when our dog is in need of Proanthozone? Is it harmful to use every day as suggested in the instructions?
Would Denamarin Tabs be better if I am concerned about our dog's liver function after so many years on Soloxine?
I have no evidence that his liver is compromised but I want to be on the safe side . He is currently 13 years old.

Is this OK to give orally?
Can this be safely added to a small bit of water to give orally by a syringe? I have a cat.
For cats, the manufacturer recommends opening the capsule and either sprinkling the liver flavored powder onto their food or mixing it into a small amount of wet food or some other treat, such as tuna.
