What is Strongid Paste?
Strongid Paste is an equine wormer that removes and controls most common and damaging internal parasites including bloodworms, small strongyles, pinworms, and large roundworms.
For:
Horses and foals (over 2 months of age)

How it works:
The active ingredient pyrantel pamoate acts as a depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent, thereby causing sudden muscular contraction, followed by paralysis of the parasite. The parasite loses its grip on the intestinal wall and passes out of the system naturally.
Cautions:
Use with caution in severely debilitated animals.

What is this product used for:
Strongid Paste is used in horses and foals for the removal and control of mature infections of large strongyles, small strongyles, pinworms, and large roundworms.
Availability:
Strongid Paste is a non-prescription (OTC) product available as individual oral dose syringes.
How this product should be used:
For horses up to 300 lbs give 1/4 syringe (5 ml), for horses 301-600 lbs give 1/2 syringe (10 ml), for horses 601-900 lbs give 3/4 syringe (15 ml), and for horses 901-1200 lbs give 1 syringe (20 ml).
In the event of overdose:
Contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency room.
What are the side effects:
There are no reported side effects.
What special precautions are there:
Unprotected animals that have grazed may already have an established S. vulgaris larval infestation. These animals should be treated with a therapeutic dose of a larvicidal product. This product is not for use in horses intended for food. Use with caution in severely debilitated animals.
How should I store this product:
Store at room temperature. Store the product in the container it comes in. Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Directions:
- Strongid Paste is given by mouth to horses and foals for the removal and control of mature infections of internal parasites (large and small Strongyles, Pinworms, and Large Roundworms).
- Each oral syringe of Strongid Paste contains four 300 lb doses.
Tip:
May be used in mares at any stage of pregnancy or lactation. Stallion fertility is not affected by the use of this product. Should not be given to severely debilitated horses.

Deposit the paste on the back of the tongue, by placing the nozzle end of the syringe at the corner of the mouth. Aim the syringe backwards and depress the plunger onto the tongue. Raising the horse's head could help with the swallowing process

I have used Strongid T for the passed 14 years with my dogs and it has worked. Very dependable, fast results if given at 0800 by noon things are starting happen depending on BM schedule of the particular dog. I have not had any side effects issues.

What is the average weight of a horse?
I need to give my horse a wormer but I dont know what my horse weighs.

How much - inch wise do I give my kittens?I heard 1/8th of an inch for a cat.But not sure.We have a lot of cats/kittens that need it bad.Thanks.
I see most say vet,but with 20 cats,no dice,I read 1/8th inch for cats.But want to be sure.Never had worms before in all our yrs of animals so is unclear of dosage.I also got Safeguard.How much of that?Thanks
Do to the fact that this is intended to be used on horses and not cats, you would want to contact your vet for the correct dosage amounts.

I use strongid paste on my cat. He is an outside cat and gets worms on a regular basis. How often can I use this to help control the worms?
Yes, Just make sure to find the correct dosage. My vet prescribes this for all my cats.

how many strongids are there in one package and how many times do i have to administer it
You require a script for this product. It comes as an injectable and in a power form called az uime. In people is it somtimes used with spinal injuries.
Horses use it for heaves.
