What is Panacur C?
Panacur C (fenbendazole) is a broad spectrum parasiticide used to treat hookworms, roundworms, tapeworms, and whipworms in dogs. It is also used by veterinarians to treat other parasites.

How it Works:
Fenbendazole is a member of the benzimidazole group of anti-parasite medications which makes it a relatively broad-spectrum medication. It binds to parasitic proteins which leads to damaging the integrity and the transport function of cells in parasites.
Cautions:
Side effects are rare, but may include loose stools. Since humans can contract roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms from pets, it's important to maintain good personal hygiene. It's also important to eliminate fleas and to not feed your pet uncooked meat or fish. To prevent re-infection, clean up stools on a daily basis.

What is this medication used for:
Fenbendazole is an anthelminthic (dewormer) used in the treatment of certain types of roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm infections in dogs.
Availability:
Panacur C (fenbendazole) is available over the counter (OTC) as granules in three packs of 1 gm packets, 2 gm packets or 4 gm packets.
How this medicine should be used:
Fenbendazole is FDA approved for use in dogs only. The usual dose for dogs, based on weight using the chart below, is given once a day for 3 consecutive days. The medication can be mixed with a small amount of your pet's usual food. Dry dog food may require slight moistening to allow for proper mixing. Medicated food must be fully consumed to be effective.

Side effects of fenbendazole are rare but may include loose stools.
What special precautions are there:
This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it. Because humans can contract roundworm, hookworm and tapeworm from pets, it is important to maintain good personal hygiene. It is also important to eliminate fleas on the pet and in the household and to not feed the pet rodents or uncooked meat or fish. To prevent reinfection, daily cleanup of stools is recommended.

Contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency room.
How should I store this medication:
Store this medication at controlled room temperature (59-86ºF).
Directions:
- Panacur C is used in dogs to treat hookworms, roundworms, tapeworms, and whipworms.
- Panacur C is available over-the-counter (OTC) as granules in boxes containing three 1-gram packets, three 2-gram packets, or three 4-gram packets.
- The usual dose of Panacur C for dogs is based on the weight of the dog and may require use of multiple size packets.
- Panacur C is for use in dogs only. Do not give to cats.
Tip:

Simple, effective treatment.
We bought this to use on our 10lb chihuahua terrier mix. She had gotten a case of tapeworms. The medicine mixed easily with wet food and she didn't mind the taste. The day after the first dose, I could see the results. She is back to normal after the simple three day treatment. She did not suffer any of the listed side effects.

I will never buy a different dewormer!
My 3 month old puppy was loaded with worms. After getting him dewormed through the vet, he still had a lot of worms in his stool. This was recommended to us by the vet office. The worms are now gone and he didn't have any nasty side effects to this dewormer like he did to the dewormer from the vet. Great product!!

Excellent results
My 60# dog had tapeworms following a flea infestation. I initially treated him with a one-time worm treatment product from Sargents that did not seem to work. After 1 week, I then tried Panacur c. By day 2, I stopped seeing worms in the dog's stool. No apparent side effects.

Didn't work for my Terrier Mix pup :(
Even though this didn't work on my pup I would still recommend this to others. It has way more positive reviews than negative so I believe this is a good product overall. We picked up a new Terrier Mix puppy from the local animal shelter and after a few trips outside to poo I noticed she had tapeworm segments in her stool. I told my vet when she went in for her last set of shots and her rabies vaccination and he gave me a liquid DeWormer that I was supposed to use for 5 days but it made her sick and I had to stop giving it to her. I decided to order some OTC wormer from 1800 Petmeds and ended up getting the Panacur C since they were out of the Dog Worms 3 brand. I gave her the recommended dose for 3 days and she didn't have any side effects from it like she did the med I got from the vet. Unfortunately here it is over a week after treatment and she still has the tapeworms. I called 1800 Petmeds and told them it didn't work and they issued me a credit on the product per their satisfaction guarantee with no hassle. I am waiting now for the Dog Worms 3 to come back in stock so I can give that one a try.

I would recommend this product, I have had to try this product twice. The first time my dog wouldn't eat it in anything I gave her, so she didn't get the complete dose for the three days, but this time I gave it to her in her favorite food and she has token all three doses and is seeming a little bit better. She never had any problems with the doses, she never had a sidefect. I would give them to her again if I had to.

Can Panacur C be used together with Heartgard?
Depending on which heartworm preventative your pet is on, your pet may be protected against intestinal parasites as well. However, if you wanted to give your pet a wormer, you could use this product once every 3 months. Please note: Panacure C is not a heartworm prevention and should not be used monthly in this manner.

10 lb 6oz puppy...
Can I use two 1gm packets of Panacur C to deworm my 10lb 6oz puppy instead of one 2 gm packet? I found myself with a few extra one gram packets, and would use two 1gm packets 3 days in a row. Thank you.
If your dog is 10lbs and 6oz's you may want to consult with your veterinarian as to which dose is best for your puppy. Your pet's weight falls in the middle of the "weight to dosage" range. From 0-10lbs its recommended to use a 1 gram packet, and from 10-20lbs its recommended to use a 2gram packet. If your vet wants you to give 2 grams then you can use 2 of the 1 gram packets. No it is for puppies 2 months or older. Your vet may have a product that would be safe for puppies that young or he may recommend you wait until they are older.
