What is FOR-BID?

How this product should be used:
The recommended dose for large dogs is ½ package sprinkled on food twice a day for 5 or 6 days. For small dogs and puppies use ¼ package twice a day for 4 days. For cats give ¼ package per day for 4 or 5 days.

I am using my second order of for bid.I have a medium size dog and a small dog and the small dog is the one that eats stool.I put it on both their food.The second order,I increased the amount that I put on their food on the second order.I hate to say it but the small dog and her name is Star is still eating stool.I try to get up all the stool that I can but it hard to get it all.I may try 1 mote order and increase the amount again,but not sure .I still have a few packs left.At this time I am not very pleased

Shih Tzu male still eating own feces.
This product was not only an amazing waste of money, but the time value is also an issue. My 6 month male Shi Tzu actually found his and my other dogs feces to be even more "tasty". Additionally, when he expels gas, the smell is beyond horrific. Please do not buy this product! Worthless and very expensive waste of time.There are other products I've purchased from Pet Meds before that worked really well, but keep For-Bid off of your list.

Works for my Beagle
My little guy ( 5 yrs old and 26 lbs) has been eating his stool since he was a pup. I have to use this product frequently so I have found a dose (smaller than recommended) that does deter without giving him diarrhea or other digestive upsets. I still have to keep close watch to make sure he doesn't ingest the stool. He does not like the taste of the (treated) feces but the "old habit" gets the better of him sometimes so he "nibbles" but leaves 98% of his business alone. I take that as success.

For the amount money spent on this product it was a very disappointing result. I used the product as directed and still observed my dog consuming fecal material. It may be effective for others but quite expensive to not get lasting results. Not worth the money.

No Poo Eating Here from
Worked after the first dose!
Our new puppy would stalk our older dog's poo and after four months of trying to train puppy to "leave it" my vet suggested adding For-Bid.He warned we had a 1/3 shot of it working. To our amazement it worked after the first dose! It's been two days and our older dog is once again enjoying some privacy and puppy is more focused on getting his business done.

Not Working so Far
I have a 5 month old small Beagle Mix that has the Bad Habit of wanting to eat his poo. I have a dog trainer who comes to the house for personal lessons and he does AMAZING with it all, but we can't break this habit! My vet sold me FOR-BID and I was really excited that there was a product like this. (I had tried Pumpkin puree but that didn't do anything)
Unfortunately There has been little progress after 2 weeks of use. I have added more and more powder to his food, but if given the chance, he will happily eat his poo. Luckily he sticks to his own, hasn't bothered my other dogs poo, or poo we pass when on walks.
I will keep using it until its gone. Without seeing results, the cost of $20 doesn't excite me to buy more.

how do i measure 1/4 of for -bid for cats
I would like to make sure the dosage is correct.
I had the same problem. I emptied a packet into a small cup and measured the powder in 1/2 teaspoon increments to give me a rough idea of what 1/4 packet would be. Then I would use the 1/2 teaspoon measure to sprinkle the product on the food to be sure I was giving the right dose.

whats the deal with steroids and For Bid?
One of the ingredients counteracts (renders ineffective) the other medication. I think it is the steroids that makes the For-Bid ineffective.

does it work for all poo with one dog or do I need to give to both dogs, even though one does not indulge?
It is my understanding that all the animals would need to be treated if one of the animals eats the feces of any dog in the household. The product makes the stool distasteful to the animal...so all the stool would have to be distasteful.

How does it work with adult dog who have had this habit off and on for 2 years? Will it take more of the product to break the habit?
It worked on our medium size pit mix who had been in a shelter for 9 months and was eatting poo every day. I ordered 24 and have only used 1/2. I gave 1/3 to our smaller dog and 2/3 to the bigger twice a day on their food. I stopped feeding it and they have not restarted. We cleaned up more too but couldn't stop it with our the For-Bid.

My dog eats cat feces from the litter box-what helps this?
This product is labelled for this use. Though with all the bad publicity about how this product doesn't work, you may need to look elsewhere. I work in a local vet clinic, and honestly all of our clients that have tried this product say it doesn't work.

Isn't it true that animals eat their feces because of vitamin deficiencies in their diet. Would it not be more beneficial to get them a multi-vitamin?
Or a dog food with all or most of the needed elements in a healthy daily diet? My dog is doing really well with Science Diet dog food. We found a place where they sell in in five pound bags vs. ten and it costs $11 per bag vs. $20 for the ten pound bag!
Puppies can start eating feces when they are young if they're kept in a place like a puppy mill where they don't get enough food, or fed regularly enough, they will eat feces for the nutrients. Older dogs eat feces either as a nutritional deficiency (it smells like food to them, some of the ingredients don't break down during digestion and they will eat it), or as a bad habbit that was never broken.
DO NOT USE FOR BID, EVER!!!! The best method of breaking this behavior is to take your dog outside on a leash, even if it's in your own gated backyard, and pick up the feces right away. if you have 1 dog, this is simple; but for multi-dog households (i have 7 and they all eat feces , so i know) it can be challenging.
i suggest taking the dogs out in pairs (on the leash of course) and clean up any feces as soon as they do it. Then go in and switch out for another pair of dogs until your done. This is the only fool-proof way.
Also there is a new product coming out soon from the PRN company, they make Proin for incontinence, that addresses this issue. Hopefully their product works better than For Bid, but keep an eye out for it. It will prob be in a purple and white bottle.

Our puppy is 4 months old and eating her feces . We have tried Forbid, but she continues eating it. Are there any other products that might help?
my vet suggested that for big dogs use a tablespoon of crushed pineapple after you rinse the juice off a day and a teaspoon a day for little dogs.
