What is Clindamycin?
Clindamycin is an antibiotic used to treat soft tissue, dental, and bone infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria. Clindamycin requires a prescription from your veterinarian and is sold per tablet or per capsule.

What is Clindamycin:
Clindamycin is an antibiotic that fights bacterial infections in the body. It is used to treat serious infections. Clindamycin may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this guide.
What should I discuss with my veterinarian before giving Clindamycin to my pet:
Do not use this medication if your pet is allergic to clindamycin or lincomycin (Bactramycin, L-Mycin, Lincocin). Do not give clindamycin together with erythromycin (E-Mycin, E.E.S., Ery-Tab, and others). Tell your veterinarian if your pet has kidney disease, liver disease, colitis, asthma, eczema, or allergic skin reaction. Tell your veterinarian if your pet is pregnant or lactating.
How should this medication be given:
Give this medication exactly as prescribed by your veterinarian. Do not give in larger amounts, or give for longer than recommended by your veterinarian. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Allow plenty of water for your pet to drink. Give this medication for the entire length of time prescribed by your veterinarian. Symptoms may get better before the infection is fully treated. Periodic blood testing will be necessary. Kidney and liver function may also need to be tested. Prior to any surgery on your pet, let your veterinarian know if your pet is still taking clindamycin. Store clindamycin at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
What happens if I miss giving a dose:
Give the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and give the next regularly scheduled dose. Do not give a double dose of the medication.
What should I avoid while giving Clindamycin to my pet:
Antibiotics can cause diarrhea. If the diarrhea is watery or has blood in it, call your veterinarian. Do not use any medication to stop the diarrhea unless your veterinarian has told you to do so.
What other drugs will affect Clindamycin:
There may be other drugs that can affect clindamycin. Tell your veterinarian about all prescription and over-the-counter medications you give your pet including vitamins, minerals, and herbal products.

Very Effective!!
My older dog has alot of dental issues. Had teeth cleaned etc... but ulcers in mouth came back. This product controls the problem so no more sore,infected gums.

works fast and easy
My pooch had a severe tooth infection which led to a sinus infection and she was sneezing and her nose constantly dripped a long strand of green mucus. It was horrible, I took her to the vet and he put her on the clindamycin. Within two to three days she was completely cleared up. She once again is huggable and no more sneezing or drippy mucus.

I am having problems giving my cat clindamycin liquid. If I switch to tablets, what amount of 25 mg tabs equals 2ml liquid?

Is 300MG of CLINDAMYCIN for a 40 LB dog too high of a dosage?
My 8 year old Chow has a yellowish, scabby infection in his ear compounded with constant itching. Is 300MG of CLINDAMYCIN too high dosage for his 40LB weight?

can clindamycin for broken leg in dog cause toothache?
My vet recommended that I give my 35 lb. dog (not sure of exact age, but he's getting old/gray) this drug to help his broken femur heal better (he's still not using it). I started the first dose today and he appears to have a toothache now and is sleepy/sad. Could this drug be healing or hurting a bad tooth as well? Also, daily dose given is 300 mg. Is this too much for this size dog?
That dose is fine for a 35 pound dog. Its hard to say if the tooth ache and sleepiness could be caused by the clindamycin, these are not common side effects, but you should always talk to your veterinarian about any side effect that is unusual or especially bothersome to your pet.

How do I make a liquid form from a clindimycin capsule?
My cats mounth is so tender and it is very difficult for me to get him to take the pill. What and how much liquid do I mix it with so I can give it to him in a liquid form?
This drug also come in a liquid suspension which would be easier for you to administer to your cat effectively.

Can we give our cat Clindamycin with tobramycin and Atropine??
Our cat has an eye infection and the vet gave us a pain killer and a antibiotic in drops for him. He recommended oral pain killers and antibiotics but we don't know if we should stick to the drops like he gave us or maybe give him both antibiotics or just the oral antibiotics and we also don't know how the oral antibiotics will react with the painkiller. In that note this cat also has FIV so his Kidneys are not working as they should and he also has a heart murmur.
You will need to discuss this issue with your veterinarian, he will have to determine the appropriate treatment based on the cat's overall health at the time.
