Previcox is a prescription NSAID used for managing your dog’s joint pain and inflammation. There are actually a number of different non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pet medications on the market.  After speaking with your veterinarian, you may be considering trying Previcox for your own dog, but how do you know if this is the best choice? Most saw a noticeable difference in their dog’s mobility soon after starting Previcox, as this owner of a Labrador retriever noted: “Our 11 yr old Lab just began to suffer from terrible arthritis in his back, barely able to do stairs and having trouble walking. After just a few days on Previcox, he is back to normal. Stairs, running, without pain and a very happy dog. We’re so relieved!”

This pet parent of a Husky/Golden retriever mix noted that it is important for your vet to monitor your dog for potential side-effects with periodic blood tests while taking Previcox: “It is true that this med can cause liver problems, however my Vet was very thorough, and took blood to test my 12 yr old dogs’ liver panel. The results were good, so it was ok to go ahead with this med. Initial blood work to test liver function and potential problems is a MUST before starting this medication. We will follow up with another blood panel, to monitor any changes.”

Another pet guardian wrote that Previcox even helped his 15 year-old dog feel better: “We have a Portuguese water dog that is almost 15 years old. She has bad knees and ankles, She was having trouble getting up and sleeping, after a few days we could see a difference, After two weeks you can see she is not in pain, can get up without the moaning and will sleep comfortably all night now, Even wants to run a little again.”
