The critique of a working dog

Your dog may perform better with positive reinforcement and joint support.

If you and your dog participate in any type of agility performances or other competitions, you should know that you are a competitor, too. According to research from the National Science Foundation, pairs compete better than singles, and the same is true with you and your canine partner. These findings also suggest that criticism between partners should be kept to a minimum, and this is no more true than with you and your dog.

Of course, your dog cannot exactly criticize your performance when the two of you compete in agility competitions. Research shows that what you say to your dog influences their performance, so there are some things to keep in mind when training and competing.

The research showed that when partners were not able to see or talk to each other, they had more success because they were not able to criticize each other, thus hindering their partner's success. That is why it is important to stay positive when working with your dog. You need to consider the way you interact with your dog during competitions. Do you secretly think your dog could be better? Do you communicate your disappointment in it? Even if you don't verbally criticize your pooch, most dogs can sense disappointment.

Another question to consider is whether you reward the positive while correcting the negative. Love, training and rewards are the three tenets of any successful dog-human team. Gather healthy pet products like Sweet Potato Rawhide and PureBites to offer as rewards when your dog performs well.

If you truly believe your dog is not performing to the best of its ability, you might want to consider giving it a supplement that will improve its capability to learn. Pet drugs that provide omega-3 fatty acids may boost your dog's cognitive function because they nourish the dog's brain. Some types of commercial pet food contain these brain-boosting nutrients, but you can also give your dog a supplement like Be Well for Dogs or Nordic Naturals Omega-3 Pet.

Your working or agility dog will also perform its best if its joints are in their best shape. One of the best treats for your pooch is Greenies JointCare Treats, since they contain glucosamine for dogs that will boost the hydration in the canine's joints, allowing it to perform at top level.

At the end of the day, the best results will come when both you and your dog are enjoying yourselves during these bonding activities.
