If your dog has unsightly tear stains, you might be considering trying Angel Eyes for dogs, which is a popular non-prescription pet medication used to eliminate tear stains from your dog’s fur. Angel Eyes for dogs is such a simple solution for pet tear stains, it seems almost too good to be true: Angel Eyes for dogs eliminates tear stains without having to use any topical cleansers on your dog’s fur. Reading some of the common questions from other pet guardians about Angel Eyes for dogs can help you decide if Angel Eyes for dogs is the right solution for your own pet.

What are the ingredients in Angel Eyes for dogs?

Angel Eyes for dogs comes in two flavors: chicken and beef. There are only two ingredients in Angel Eyes for dogs: the beef flavor contains 100% pure beef liver and Tylosin, and the ingredients in the chicken flavor of Angel Eyes for dogs are 100% pure chicken liver and Tylosin.

How long does it take for Angel Eyes for dogs to work?

Angel Eyes for dogs has no effect on pre-existing stains. Angel Eyes for dogs works by changing the chemistry of your dog’s tears, so that the tears do not cause staining of the fur. Once our pet has started taking Angel Eyes for dogs, the new fur growth will be free of stains. As new fur grows, trim off the stained fur. Your pet’s fur should be stain-free in about 3-5 weeks after using Angel Eyes for dogs, depending upon how quickly your pet’s fur grows.

Will Angel Eyes for dogs prevent my dog’s eyes from tearing?

Watery eyes is a condition known as “epiphora,” and is common in dogs, especially in brachycephalic breeds. Excessive tearing in pets is caused either by an excess production of tears, or a problem which prevents the tears from draining properly. Angel Eyes for dogs has no effect on the amount of your pet’s tear production, or the draining of your pet’s tears. Angel Eyes for dogs simply changes the composition of the tears, so that the tears do not cause staining of the fur.

Will Angel Eyes for dogs help other stains on my pet’s fur?

A compound known as porphyrins in your dog’s tears is responsible for the staining. Porphyrins is also found in your pet’s saliva, which is why you often see the same reddish staining around your pet’s mouth and on the paws of dogs that lick their feet excessively. Angel Eyes for dogs will also work to eliminate beard and paw stains.

How long should my dog take Angel Eyes for dogs?

Angel Eyes for dogs is a powder that you sprinkle on your dog’s food. For best results, you should use Angel Eyes for dogs daily for the first three months. After three months, give Angel Eyes for dogs four times per week, and reduce to twice a week after six months. If you discontinue use of Angel Eyes for dogs, the stains will eventually recur.

Most pet guardians have seen those unattractive reddish-colored stains around the eyes of other dogs, or maybe your own dog has this common problem. These stains are caused by a compound called “porphyrin” which is found in your pet’s tears and saliva. Porphyrin contains iron so, when this compound is exposed to oxygen, the porphyrins oxidize or “rust,” resulting in the typical discoloration of the fur. Exposure to light can make these stains even worse. You may see the staining on your pet wherever the tears or saliva come in contact with the fur such as around the eyes, around the mouth, and even on the paws if the dog licks excessively. While any dog may have a problem with this staining, it is much more apparent on dogs with white or light-colored fur.

These stains are stubborn and difficult to remove with topical products meant to clean the fur. And worse, a stain remover is only a temporary fix, and does not address the root of the problem. The fur stains will continue to develop unless the cause of the staining is corrected with a product such as Angel Eyes for dogs.

Angel Eyes for dogs works to change the chemistry of the tears by tying up the circulating porphyrins that are responsible for the staining. The ingredients in Angel Eyes for dogs are 100% pure beef liver and Tylosin. It is the Tylosin in the Angel Eyes for dogs that binds with the porphyrins. Consequently, when your pet uses Angel Eyes for dogs, the tears and saliva no longer leave behind the characteristic stain. While Angel Eyes for dogs has no effect on already-stained fur, the new fur growth will be stain free.

Angel Eyes for dogs is easy to use; simply sprinkle the appropriate dose of Angel Eyes for dogs onto your pet’s food every day. After three months, reduce the frequency of Angel Eyes for dogs to four times per week, and after six months you may give Angel Eyes for dogs to you pet twice per week.

Advantage Multi for dogs provides comprehensive protection from internal and external parasites. Advantage Multi for dogs protects your pet from heartworm, fleas, roundworms, hookworms and whipworms. However, for Advantage Multi for dogs to be effective, it is important to use and apply this pet medication correctly. Here are some simple steps to ensure you use Advantage Multi for dogs properly:

Select the correct dose of Advantage Multi for dogs:

Advantage Multi for dogs comes in five different dosages; select the correct size of Advantage Multi for dogs based upon the weight of your pet. The available sizes of Advantage Multi are: 03–09 pounds, 09–20 pounds, 20-55 pounds, 55-88 pounds, and 88-110 pounds. If your dog weighs over 110 pounds, use a combination of Advantage Multi for dogs to cover his entire weight.

Apply Advantage Multi for dogs monthly:

Advantage Multi for dogs is available in 6 and 12 dose packages. After you have selected the correct dose, it is important that you remember to apply Advantage Multi for dogs regularly, every month. The American Heartworm Society recommends year-round use of a heartworm preventative for your dog. Many pet guardians select an easy-to-remember date such as the first of every month.

How to apply Advantage Multi for dogs:

Your dog should be standing during the application of Advantage Multi for dogs.

Part the fur on the back of your dog’s neck, between the shoulder blades, until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the Advantage Multi applicator tube on your dog’s skin. It is important that Advantage Multi for dogs is applied directly to your dog’s skin rather than onto the fur.

For dogs 3-9 pounds and 9-20 pounds, squeeze the entire contents of the Advantage Multi for dogs applicator tube onto one spot between the shoulder blades.

For dogs over 20 pounds, apply the entire contents of the Advantage Multi for dogs applicator tube onto the exposed skin in 3 or 4 spots along your dog’s back, starting from the base of the neck to the upper back area. Make sure you apply Advantage Multi for dogs to a spot your dog cannot reach to lick.

Other directions for using Advantage Multi for dogs:

After application, for the first 30 minutes, make sure that other dogs and cats cannot lick the Advantage Multi for dogs from the application site. Separating treated pets for that 30 minute period will reduce the chance of accidental ingestion of Advantage Multi for dogs by other pets. Do not allow any children or other people to touch your pet’s skin for 30 minutes after application of Advantage Multi for dogs. Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after applying Advantage Multi for dogs to your pets, and dispose of the empty applicator tube properly.

Previcox is a popular pet medication used to control your dog’s pain and inflammation caused by arthritis. Previcox is also used to relieve pain due to injury, or for post-operative pain control. If you are a concerned pet guardian considering Previcox for your own dog, you may have questions about Previcox. Here are some common questions about Previcox:

Who is the manufacturer of Previcox?

Previcox is manufactured by Merial Animal Health Ltd.

How quickly does Previcox work?

While response varies from dog to dog, Previcox is fast-acting and begins working within hours of the first dose.

Can Previcox be used with other pain relievers?

You should not give Previcox with any other NSAID or corticosteroid. However, you can combine Previcox with a joint supplement containing glucosamine, chondroitin or MSM.

What side effects may be caused by Previcox?

The most common side effect of Previcox use is digestive upset such as vomiting. However, liver and kidney problems may be caused by NSAIDS such as Previcox. If you suspect that your dog is experiencing side effects from Previcox, contact your veterinarian immediately.

What is the correct dose of Previcox for my dog?

Previcox is a prescription medication; your veterinarian will prescribe the appropriate dose based upon your dog’s size and medical condition. Follow your vet’s instructions exactly when giving Previcox to your dog. Previcox is available in 57mg and 227mg chewable tablets. The usual dose is 2.27mg per pound of dog’s weight once per day.

Should my dog take Previcox with food?

Previcox may be given with or without food. However, giving Previcox with food may lessen the chance that your dog will experience digestive upset.

Previcox is a prescription NSAID used for managing your dog’s joint pain and inflammation. There are actually a number of different non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pet medications on the market. After speaking with your veterinarian, you may be considering trying Previcox for your own dog, but how do you know if this is the best choice? If you’re still trying to decide if Previcox is right for your dog, reading what other pet parents have to say about Previcox may be helpful.

What other pet parents say about Previcox:

Our customers rated Previcox 4.4 out of a possible 5 stars based upon 154 reviews. Most saw a noticeable difference in their dog’s mobility soon after starting Previcox, as this owner of a Labrador retriever noted: “Our 11 yr old Lab just began to suffer from terrible arthritis in his back, barely able to do stairs and having trouble walking. After just a few days on Previcox, he is back to normal. Stairs, running, without pain and a very happy dog. We’re so relieved!”

This pet parent of a Husky/Golden retriever mix noted that it is important for your vet to monitor your dog for potential side-effects with periodic blood tests while taking Previcox: “It is true that this med can cause liver problems, however my Vet was very thorough, and took blood to test my 12 yr old dogs’ liver panel. The results were good, so it was ok to go ahead with this med. Initial blood work to test liver function and potential problems is a MUST before starting this medication. We will follow up with another blood panel, to monitor any changes.”

Another pet guardian wrote that Previcox even helped his 15 year-old dog feel better: “We have a Portuguese water dog that is almost 15 years old. She has bad knees and ankles, She was having trouble getting up and sleeping, after a few days we could see a difference, After two weeks you can see she is not in pain, can get up without the moaning and will sleep comfortably all night now, Even wants to run a little again.”

Several pet parents were pleased with how fast-acting Previcox was for their dog: “I have a 12 yr old pitbull, Sasha. She suffers from severe arthritis in her back hips and legs. I tried many different medications and Previcox worked miracles. As soon as I gave her her 1st dose she was playing with my other 3 dogs like she was a puppy again! I would recommend this to anyone whose dog has the same problems as Sasha does.”

Stiff, painful joints are a common problem in dogs, and it is estimated that arthritis affects one out of every five dogs over one year of age. When your dog develops painful, arthritic joints it can greatly affect his mobility and quality of life. If your dog has been diagnosed with degenerative joint disease, there are steps you can take to make him more comfortable. While arthritis cannot be “cured,” controlling your dog’s pain and inflammation with a medication such as Previcox will help your dog lead a happier and more active life.

What is Previcox?

Previcox is a fast-acting non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (“NSAID”) used for managing your dog’s joint pain and inflammation.

How much Previcox do I give my dog?

Previcox is a flavored, chewable tablet which makes giving medicine as easy as giving your dog a treat. Previcox is available in 57mg and 227mg doses, and in 10 tablet packs or 60 tablet bottles. Previcox is a prescription medication, and your veterinarian will advise you regarding the recommended dose of Previcox for your dog. The usual dose of Previcox is 2.27mg per pound of dog’s weight, administered once a day. It is important to exactly follow your veterinarian’s instructions about how to use Previcox for your dog.

Does Previcox have side effects?

Previcox has been demonstrated to be safe at the recommended dose, and is well-tolerated by most dogs. The most common side effect of an NSAID is digestive upset. You may give your dog Previcox with or without food, but giving with food may reduce the chance of stomach upset. Less common side effects of Previcox are stomach ulcers, and side-effects involving the liver or kidneys. It is recommended that your dog be regularly monitored for side effects by your veterinarian when taking Previcox. Be sure to contact your veterinarian immediately if you suspect your dog is experiencing a side-effect from Previcox usage.

What else should I know about Previcox?

Previcox is for use in dogs, and should not be given to cats. Previcox is for use in dogs 7 weeks of age and older, and weighing at least 12.5 pounds or more. While response time varies between individual dogs, when using Previcox, you should see a marked improvement in your dog within days.

If your dog suffers from joint pain, discuss with your veterinarian whether Previcox is the right choice to control your dog’s pain and inflammation.

Pet stairs can be a great help for dogs and cats with limited mobility due to age, joint pain, obesity, or after recovering from surgery. However, even the best pet stairs will be of no use if your dog or cat can’t or won’t use them. Some dogs and cats will instinctively know how to use their new pet stairs, especially if you have a staircase in the home so your pet is already familiar with steps. It can take a bit of training for others, especially if this is your pet’s first exposure to steps of any kind.

An especially tempting treat is all it takes for many pets to lure them onto the pet stairs; if your dog is more play-motivated, you can substitute a favorite toy for the treat. First, simply place the treat on the ground beside the pet stairs and let him eat it there so he becomes comfortable being near the pet stairs. Then, show your dog another treat, and place it on the first step – at this point he will be on the ground and eating the treat from that first step. Continue luring your pet up the steps by placing the treats progressively higher onto the pet stairs until your pet reaches the top. Be sure to offer lots of praise as your dog takes each step higher. Repeat this process a couple of times before you attempt to teach your pet to go down the pet stairs, which can be more intimidating to some pets.

Once your pet is comfortable going up the pet stairs, repeat the same process to lure your pet down the steps. It is easier if you begin by placing your pet on the lowest step and luring him to the ground, then repeating the process of descending from successively higher steps rather than immediately expecting him to descend from the very top of the pet stairs. Be sure to watch your pet closely to make sure he doesn’t just leap from the steps.

Repeat the process several times going up and down until your pet is comfortable using the pet stairs. It usually only takes a few successful trips up and down the pet stairs for your pet to become comfortable using pet stairs. Be patient and go slowly until your pet gains confidence.

Many pets use pet stairs which allow them to safely climb and descend areas that may have previously been inaccessible. There are several different types of pet stairs; it’s important to select the right kind of pet stairs for your pet to get the most benefit and use from the steps. Pet stairs vary mostly in terms of size/height and the material from which they are made.

Plastic is a common material for pet stairs, and these pet stairs are sturdy, durable and also lightweight. If you select plastic pet stairs, look for rubber grips on the bottom to eliminate the risk of the pet stairs slipping on hard surfaces such as tile or wooden floors. Plastic pet stairs often have carpeted mats covering the tread for sure footing. Plastic pet stairs are easy to clean, relatively inexpensive, and come in a variety of colors and sizes.

Soft pet stairs are made from high-density foam to comfortably and gently support your pet’s weight. Soft pet stairs come in a variety of colors and fabrics to match your decor. Look for a removable, washable cover to extend the life of the pet stairs. Foam pet stairs are available in the standard square step-shape as well as a shape with rounded edges that is easier for many pets to navigate.

You can also find pet stairs made from wood. These pet stairs are heavier than foam or plastic steps, but more resemble a piece of furniture and are typically more costly than foam or plastic pet stairs.
After you have selected the type of pet stairs that’s best for your pet, you will need to determine the correct size of pet stairs. Pet stairs will specify the amount of weight they are designed to support; make sure the pet stairs are rated to support the weight of your dog. Next, select the proper size stairs based upon your dog’s size, the size and shape of the steps, and the height of furniture for which the pet stairs will be used. Look for pet stairs that will reach slightly below the piece of furniture so that your pet has to step up onto the bed, sofa or other object. Pet stairs may have two, three or four steps; the number of steps will also affect how wide and tall each step is.
