Angel Eyes: For Pets With Problem Tear Stains

Angels' Eyes is available at PetMeds®

Angel Eyes eliminates pet tear stains from the inside out by tying up circulating porphyrins which react with light to cause that unsightly reddish-brown stain on your pet’s fur.  Have you ever wondered what causes tear stains in dogs and cats?

Angel Eyes: Prevents Tear Stains from Forming

Excessive tearing in dogs and cats is called epiphora. There are two main causes of excessive tearing: either the pet produces excessive tears which then drain onto the fur, or the pet has a normal quantity of tears but the tears do not drain properly due to an abnormality of the tear ducts.  Tear staining is more common with certain breeds of dogs and cats, especially short-nosed breeds. Angel Eyes does not stop the eyes from tearing, but works to prevent the tears from causing staining of the fur.

Once the fur around the eyes becomes wet from the tears, the moist fur becomes a breeding ground for yeast and bacteria.  One of the most frequent infections is a yeast infection called Ptyrosporin, commonly known as “red yeast.”  The red yeast infection may also cause a bad odor. Tylosin as Tartrate is the active ingredient in Angel Eyes; this ingredient in Angels’ Eyes actually prevents your dog or cat from developing red yeast.

Many pet owners with white dogs find Angels’ Eyes is especially beneficial because the tear staining is so much more noticeable on pets with white or light-colored fur.
