What is Taste of the Wild High Prairie Canine Formula Dry Dog Food?

Taste of the Wild High Prairie Canine Formula with Roasted Bison and Roasted Venison is a hearty and nutritious meal for dogs of any age, size, or breed. Real lean cuts of bison (certified hormone free and antibiotic free) provide highly digestible sources of protein, while sweet potato and peas are used to provide your dog with high levels of energy. Whole fruits and vegetables provide vitamins and antioxidants to boost your dog's immune system. This dog food also contains proteinates (protein compounds), which help your dog's body absorb the nutrients to get the most out of the food. Taste of the Wild is grain free, which makes it a great food for dogs with intolerances or allergies to grains.

For:

Dogs

Benefits:
  • Ideal for dogs of all life stages (puppies to senior)
  • Grain free means no corn, wheat, soy, or fillers
  • #1 ingredient is real bison meat
  • Fruits and vegetables provide natural sources of antioxidants
  • Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids help maintain healthy skin and coat
  • Dried chicory root helps support a healthy digestive system
  • Naturally preserved
  • Available in 3 different sizes (5, 15, or 30 lb. bags)
  • No toxic chemicals, artificial flavors, or artificial colors

How it works:

Each batch of Taste of the Wild is cooked with water that is purified through reverse osmosis, the same process used by popular bottled water manufacturers. Taste of the Wild provides your dog with a hearty meal that is not only delicious but also provides essential vitamins and antioxidants to stay healthy and active.

How to Use
Transitioning Your Dog to Taste of the Wild High Prairie Canine Formula:
  • Days 1 & 2: Feed 75% previous dog food and 25% Taste of the Wild.

  • Days 5 & 6: Feed 25% previous dog food and 75% Taste of the Wild.

Tip:

Digestive upset caused by a diet change can sometimes be prevented by mixing some non-fat plain yogurt in with your dog's food each day during the transition. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reduces Shedding I have a young Chocolate Lab. Anyone with a lab knows how much they shed. On TOTW her shedding is minimal and her coat shines like patent leather. She loves the food. Don't understand the comment about the smell being bad, I don't find that to be true. On my vets advice, I switched her over briefly to 'his brand' when she was 3 mo old and the shedding began to increase and her coat lost some of its luster. I went back to this. My previous labs (before TOTW) had hot spots but this dog has not had one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! Our dog suffered from skin allergies every spring. We tried everything the vet suggested but a friend recommended Taste of the Wild. It worked! Our dog has gone 2 years now without the spring itches and hot spots. The ONLY thing that changed was her food!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Natural ingredients and my dog only eats this. I started buying this in California (now im in VA) years ago and I like it not only because it's cheaper since they don't spend money on advertising but it's made with quality natural ingredients and with fresh water in the Cali Sierra mountains.. Turns out it's the only food that my friends dogs can eat too, as it doesn't give skin itching issues other brands can. I my does not like the salmon flavor though so I stick to this bison flavor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TOTW Taste of the Wild costs more but is more economical. Because there are no fillers, your dof does not have to eat as much to get the nutrition.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Switched because of recall I switched the little-big guy to another grain free brand because the recall of taste of the wild, and he really loves it. He ate it up and his breath smells better. Plus his body digests it more regularly. Until then TOTW worked well with no other complaints. Not sure if I am going to switch back to totw.
