These steps are the same as the Dog Steps with 3 Steps except these steps include a fleece covering. The Soft Dog Steps an be used as a preventive measure against arthritis by reducing the incidence of jumping. The Soft Dog Steps with 3 Steps are especially helpful for pets that already experience joint pain or weakness caused by arthritis. Directions (To set up):
•
Place all parts onto the floor, pairing the left and right panels and stair parts.
•
Place the right panel on the floor with the Pet Gear logo facing the floor.
•
Insert the top stair panel with the rug facing upward. The straight edge of the panel should be facing towards the back of the stair unit.
•
Insert the front cover of the top step into the right panel.
•
Insert one bottom step into the right panel.
•
Repeat the two previous steps.
•
Insert the rod into the right panel.
•
Before attaching the left panel of the staircase, make sure there are no gaps between parts.
•
Align all the holes on the left panel with the pegs from the right sides of the stairs.
•
Push left panel down to secure the steps.
•
Pull fleece covering on top of assembled steps.
Tip: If you experience difficulty inserting the parts try adding a little dish soap on the end of the peg before inserting.
How to Purchase the Right Size Pet Steps for Your Dog or Cat

Measure the height of the location to which you are to trying to give your pet access.
•
Allow for a few extra inches below the top of the surface you are trying to give your pet access to by purchasing steps that are slightly smaller (in height) than the piece of furniture.

I bought a similar item for my Westie, as she had been showing signs of difficulty in jumping - we loved it and was easy for her. Now my Frenchie just had back surgery and decided to purchase another for a different piece of furniture he likes to sunbathe on. This product was not what I expected. I suggest the manufacturer stick with the dense foam stairs not the assembled harder steps.
But it will still work.

Did not look like the photo. Hard to assemble--sent it back. It was realy quite ugly.

Just what my dog needed!
I recently bought the soft steps for my dog, Josh, to prevent him from jumping off my high bed. Pekinese's are prone to hip deplacement & these steps have been fantastic in preventing him from doing just that. He uses them to get on & off the bed, so he can come & go as he pleases. They were very easy to assemble & I like the fact that I can remove the cover & throw it into the wash. Lastly, they look great with my existing furniture.

Solid Construction, Easy Assembly
I purchased item# 60727 and my Maltese finds the steps easy to use. My only concern is the fleece cover doesn't fit taut as shown in the picture and the carpet slides a bit when he climbs them. I called to see if they sold the carpet inserts separately, but they don't. I thought about replacing the steps with #60722, but they don't sell the fleece cover separately either. I will have to find some type of anti-skid mat so the carpet doesn't move. Other than that I would recommend, as the product is solid and well designed. I'm very pleased with the purchase..

The soft steps are not currently available in 4 steps. We do have the Easy Dog 4 Steps which have removable and machine-washable carpeted mats to make cleaning easy.
