What is ProMeris for Cats?

How it works:
ProMeris contains the active flea control ingredient, metaflumizone. This compound features an exclusive mode of action that attacks the flea’s nervous system by blocking neuronal sodium channels, which results in paralysis and death.

Cautions:
Side effects may occur if the product is licked after application. When used between the shoulder blades, as directed, licking isn’t an issue.

What is this product used for: ProMeris for Cats is a single spot application for control of fleas on cats and kittens 8 weeks of age and older. ProMeris for Cats provides control of existing flea infestations, and protects against re-infestation. It may also be used to prevent infestation in flea-free cats and kittens 8 weeks of age and older taken into a flea-contaminated environment. ProMeris for Cats kills fleas that may cause flea allergy dermatitis.

Availability: ProMeris for Cats is available as 3 or 6 dose packages for small cats under 9 lbs (S) and for large cats 9 lbs and over (L). Kittens 8 weeks to 6 months should be treated with the small size.

How this product should be used: While monthly application is commonly recommended for effective flea control in cats, always consult with your veterinarian about the health of your pet and use ProMeris for Cats as directed by your veterinarian. To help ensure this product works as effectively and safely as possible, follow these product application instructions:

1. Remove one applicator from the foil pouch. Hold the applicator upright for 3 seconds to avoid splash when opening. Use two hands to hold both ends of the applicator with printed side facing the user and narrow end pointing upward and away from the user.

2. To open, bend the tip of the applicator toward the user and break along the fracture line. Do not squeeze applicator when opening. Avoid touching applicator opening.

3. Fold tip back against the printed side of applicator. Hold the applicator in one hand using thumb to hold tip back against the printed side of the applicator.

4. Push the open tip through the pet's hair coat onto pet's skin between the shoulder blades. Squeeze applicator to apply entire contents to the pet's skin. Do not apply on the surface of the pet's hair coat. Avoid contact with treated area until dry.

What are the side effects: When licked from the application site, cats responded with salivation. This responses resolved without treatment. When used between the shoulder blades, as directed, it should be difficult for a cat to lick the product. Individual sensitivities, while rare, may occur after the use of any pesticide product. If skin irritation, change in behavior, vomiting or diarrhea is observed and persists after the use of this product, call your veterinarian immediately.

What special precautions are there: Use ProMeris for Cats on cats only. Consult your veterinarian before using this product on aged, debilitated, medicated, pregnant or nursing animals. Use rubber gloves when applying this product.

In the event of overdose: Contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency room.

How should I store this product: Store ProMeris in a cool dry place. Do not contaminate water, food, or feed by storage or disposal.
