Preventic Amitraz Tick Collar for Dogs
Preventic Amitraz Tick Collar for Dogs 237 237
didn't work Our dog is on Revolution, which protects against everything but ticks, so we needed something for ticks. I got the Preventic collar. Our dog has had it on since the beginning of April (supposed to be effective for 3 months), and here it is mid-May, and we have found 5 ticks total (3 were engorged) on him. Ironically, they were all found close to the collar (one behind his ear, one above his eye, and one on his neck). None were on his abdomen or hind quarters. One of the ones that was found, but was not embedded yet looked like it could have been a deer tick. 05/12/2011
Highly Recomended I have been using this collar on my dogs for 10 years now. I recomend this highly! 03/19/2011
Really Worked for Us We were having a terrible problem with ticks. We had tried fogging and spraying the yard. Different shampoo's. Over and over again. I have three dogs, small, medium and large so it can get pretty expensive. I ordered these collars as a last resort and within 48 hrs we were not having the problem anymore. I will be ordering them again and again to keep it under control and it is affordable. 03/17/2011
Would never use anything else! This product is the only thing that works for my dog! He's outside a lot, running around and hiding under bushes and trees - not a single tick! I used to get 10-20 ticks off him on a daily base, I'm not kidding. I live in the Caribbean and seems they are everywhere! Went to the vet and asked for help, she told me to try this collar. Now the only time I found one on him was when the collar was a bit over 3 months old and I hadn't changed it for a new one yet. All I can say is great product, would never use anything else. 03/23/2015
Effective with time I know that several people have mentioned that their dogs have had bad reactions to this, but this is because those dog breeds have a predisposition of having a bad reaction to this medication. I highly recommend looking up your breed and seeing if they have a predisposition of having a bad reaction to this med. My dog (Am. Staff mix) hasn't shown any adverse reaction to this. However, you need to be very careful in maintaining an appropriate collar length so that the dog cant take the collar off and eat it. This is a highly poisonous material if the dog eats it and you must take your dog to the vet if you suspect he/she has ingested a portion of it. The effectiveness is great as long as you have the patience for it. You must use it continuously for six weeks changing the collar every two weeks in order to be rid of all of the demodectic mange. Avoid water and giving your pet a bath during this time to ensure the efficacy of the collar. I highly recommend this product as does my vet. I think they are safe to use as long as you follow your Vet's and package's instructions. 03/15/2015

Answer:No, because the collar only comes with one buckle. BUT, I think that you can remove the buckle and reuse it so you can have one box make a total of three collars for one dog.
Answer:Thank you for your question. No, this cannot be made into three smaller collars.
I continue to find ticks attached to my dog - ear, chest, genital area. I don't know if they are different kinds of ticks or just at different life stages as they have ranged from tiny & tannish in color to partially engorged & dark brown/black.
I reapplied the drops & am considering applying more frequently during tick season - which was suggested by manufacturer's help line. I would like a longer lasting solution rather than a shorter one, however your "how to use" video says not to use the collar with K9AdvantixII.
Answer:My vet told me to wait the 30 days after I had applied a topical flea and tick medicine (Frontline Plus) before using the Preventic collar. He said it would be too much on the dog's system.
Answer:Thank you for your question. It is suggested to wait at least 3 weeks before using the Preventic collar after the application of K9 Advantix II.
Answer:My dogs wear the collar starting in April and I put a new one on them in July. That gives us enough coverage from ticks until the hard freeze. We are usually good without the collar Nov. thru March.
Answer:Thank you for your question. Depending on the climate throughout the winter, you can remove the collar if you do not see ticks.
Answer:I would not think so! There is a very strong smell to the collar. Not terrible but you can definitely smell a difference in your pets fur. I assume the smell/chemical is necessary to repel the ticks.
Although the smell is noticeable, it is not overwhelming. The smell far out-weighs your dog getting ticks! I still don't think you would want to be ingesting the chemical smell from the collar.
Answer:Thank you for your question. No, this would not be safe as the collar releases medication onto your furry pal's skin.
