The Preventic Amitraz Tick Collar for Dogs kills and detaches ticks. As long as your pet is wearing the collar, prevention lasts for up to three months. Preventic Tick Collars also prevent new ticks from attaching and feeding within 48 hours after application. It contains amitraz, an ingredient that kills and detaches ticks for up to 90 days, including the American Dog Tick, Brown Dog Tick, Lone Star Tick and the Deer Tick (the major carrier of Lyme disease).

For:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from it works I really like this tick collar. It works for both of my small dogs. I live in the country where ticks can be readily found. Whether it be on my husband and I or on our dogs, ticks are common place. This collar has taken away and keeps the ticks off my dogs. Good product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Preventic Tick Collar I have used this collar for about 7 years. I highly recommend it. Since I started using the collar, my dog has not had even one tick. However, lately the little buckle's quality has decreased tremendously. It just goes bad for no apparent reason, so I need to buy a new collar before the 3 months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SOLD! We had the worst tick infestation in Vero Beach, FL. The length we went thru to rid the animals - dogs, cats, ferrets, birds was over the top. $400. a month pest control (they have to take all the pics, etc. off the walls) for just the house interior. It's double for the yard. No one else had it as bad on my block and it was completely unaffordable. We bought PREVENTIC from the vet - the ticks were GONE in under a mth. Seriously a miracle and all we wanted for our non-human friends. We sprayed the yard and so long ticks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Collar I have two shelties...long hair hard to find ticks. I purchased different product (cheaper) and one of my dogs had bad reaction to the collar so I switched back to preventic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from unbelieveable I went through a living nightmare with ticks. So bad they were crawling up the walls in our garage. We had to throw EVERYTHING OUT. CABINETS, STORAGE TOTES, CLOTHING AND YOU NAME IT. We went through 9 months of exterminators and vet bills. Nothing worked! THEN, I FOUND THE PREVENTIC AMITRAZ TICK COLLAR AND NOW I HAVE NOT SEEN BUT A SPORADIC ONE. THANK PREVENTIC FOR AN AWESOME PRODUCT.

Is this effective on fleas also?

Asked by: Buzzard
The Preventic tick collar is not effective against fleas. If you are interested in a collar that covers both fleas and ticks, you may want to look into the Seresto collar. Here is the link below: http://www.1800petmeds.com/Seresto-prod11501.html?q=seresto

Preventic tick collars - there are two sizes - are they different strengths of medicine

is their more medicine in a 25"? Is it too strong for my 50lb and 35lb dogs.
Asked by: deb
The strength is the same. The difference is in the length of the collar. If there is more length than is needed for the collar to fit snuggly against the skin, the excess should be cut off. I like to put that excess in my vacuum bag to kill anything that might get vacuumed out of the carpet.

Will this product harm a cat if they come in contact with it?

I read if you use k9 advantix II you need to keep cats seperated for 24 hours. I need flea and tick prevention for my dogs where I live and don't want to rick poisoning my Ragdoll. Is the product safe if a cat or even if the dogs bite at it?
Asked by: lanoble
No. This is a highly poisonous chemical if ingested by either cat or dog. If your cat or dog ingests a portion of the collar you would need to take them to a Vet ASAP in order to receive an antidote. It is not safe for cats to use or to come in contact with, but it is safe for most dogs to use. Some dogs have a bad reaction to it, but most don't.

What is the shelf life without being opened?

I would like to purchase extras but need to know how long the product will be good.
Asked by: lori
I bought three boxes last month and all three of my boxes say that they will expire in June of this year. I don't recommend buying an excess amount unless you will be using them within 6months of the buy date.

I HAVE THREE SMALL DOGS ONE 25" COLLAR WOULD FIT ALL THREE CAN THEY BE MADE INTO THREE DIFFERANT COLLARS

Asked by: JOHN
No, because the collar only comes with one buckle. BUT, I think that you can remove the buckle and reuse it so you can have one box make a total of three collars for one dog.
