Customer Reviews
Nature's Variety Instinct Lamb Formula Canned Dog Food is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from dog loves it My 8 year old peke a poo could not get enough of it. She was even licking the inner sides of her bowl; getting the last bits of it. I like mixing it along with her dry kibble so she can really get a good meal. It is also made in the USA and made with real meat: chix, beef, lamb, turkey, duck, salmon, etc. (Available in different meats).

Q&A

instinct canned dog food

My shi tzu has chronic constipation and allergies. My vet recommends I feed her lamb canned dog food and I've been putting bran, olive oil in her food but her stools are very hard and she only poops a little bit once a dayl can you recomend what kind of dog food I should get gracie to help with her constipation?
Asked by: Vera
Thank you for your question. I'm sorry that Gracie is having these issues. It looks like your vet will likely recommend that you try an elimination diet— feeding a food that has a different protein (meat) source and a different carbohydrate (grain) source than what your dog has had before. Common anti-allergy foods (novel protein sources) include kangaroo and oatmeal or venison and potato. This prevents the immune response from continuing to be triggered. INSTINCT GRAIN-FREE NUTRITION FOR DOGS is an excellent dog food for your furry pal. Grain-free and gluten-free Omega fatty acids for healthy skin and coat Specially formulated for rotation feeding Complete and balanced for all life stages and all breeds Another way to provide additional fiber is to add a bulk-forming laxative daily to the dog’s food. Bulk laxatives soften the feces and promote more frequent elimination. Commonly used bulk laxatives are unprocessed wheat bran (1 to 5 tablespoons, 15 to 75 ml per day) and Metamucil (1 to 5 teaspoons, 5 to 25 ml per day). Plain canned pumpkin (1 tablespoon to 1⁄2 cup, 100 ml) depending on the size of the dog, can also help. Bulk laxatives or pumpkin can be fed indefinitely without causing problems.
