NaturVet Digestive Enzymes with Prebiotics & Probiotics
I have had good luck with this product for my 13 yr. old black lab and our 1& 1/2 yr. old pup. But, I would like to compare this product with Super Vita Chews which also have digestive enzymes in them. The problem I am having is the measures shown in NatureVet Digestive Enzymes. What are SKBU, LU, CMCU, PU, CFU and how do they compare measure wise to mg.?? which are used in the Super Vita Chews.
I wanted to give this at least a week before posting a review. We have a 5 month old pit who has had a problem with constant loose stools. Went through antibiotics, and pro digest through our vet, then I saw this product. I am noticing much better poopies :-) and am hoping that with continued use it will correct the situation all together. I will repost again with updates, but def think it is worth a try to anyone going through this
My 16 year old polydactyl has had irritable bowels pretty consistently for the last three years. Our Vet suggested feeding him pumpkin puree or yogurt - that didn't go over too well. However, after ONLY TWO doses of this amazing probiotic, my cat's diarrhea stopped and has continued to be normal every day for over a month. What a relief for both of us! The powder mixes instantly with wet food and it has no taste at all. It's easy to tell that the little ex-stinker feels 100% better!
Our 11 year old Border Collie has always had terrible breath, though the vet says her teeth and gums are fine. Also got diarrhea easily. I've used 1/2 tsp twice a day mixed in with her food and I swear her breath is 50% improved. Not sweet, but enough better that I'm buying another jar of it.
Once a week, I'll saute up some ground beef or turkey, stir in a tablespoon of the probiotic powder, then mix it all with a high quality dry food. It is my dog's favorite meal and the next day scooping up that perfect Tootsie Roll is easy.
My sweet four year old English Bulldog has had a recurrent staph infection since July of 2011. She has been on antibiotics, steroids, sprays, weekly baths, etc. She is on a hypoallergenic diet and has had her thyroid tested as well. Her thyroid is normal and the bacteria tested positive for antibiotic resistant staph. The bacteria continues to come back - about once a month since July. With this latest outbreak, I kept her off all medication, kept her wounds clean and used baby powder to keep her wounds dry. They are clearing up after a week and I want to try a probiotic now to help (possibly) prevent the staph from re-occurring. What would you recommend? This product? I am thinking that the healthy bacteria might help ward off future overgrowth of staph.
This supplement is best used when needed. Give it on a daily basis for as long as your pet is having digestive issues such as vomiting or diarrhea. As long as the pet is healthy and acting normally you do not need to use this product.
Have you tried Plain Greek Yogurt? One heaping teaspoon with food (or without) twice a day was suggested by my vet. You want to use the Plain Greek because you want as little sugar in it as possible. My dogs love it :O)
You could give your dog Vetasyl which encourages natural elimination without the aid of chemicals, while providing gentle, effective relief from constipation. You just sprinkle over food every day to aid in better digestion. Here is a link to that product for your review: http://www.1800petmeds.com/Vetasyl-prod10508.html
