Using real whole ingredients helps to support your pet's immune system and keep your pet strong to fight against diseases.

It also includes prebiotics which are special forms of fiber that stimulate growth and function of beneficial bacteria in the intestine. Most pets require 7 to 10 days to adjust to new pet food. Below is a general guideline on how to transition your cat from the old food to Halo.
Days 1-3  75% old food, 25% Halo (if feeding a combo: 50% canned and 50% dry)
Days 4-5   50% old food, 50% Halo (if feeding a combo: 50% canned and 50% dry)
Days 6-7  25% old food, 75% Halo (if feeding a combo: 25-50% canned and 50-75% dry)
Days 8+  100% Halo (25-50% canned and 50-75% dry Halo)

Good results. Oliver, my wonderful 12 year-old Devon Rex, has allergies. This sometimes causes his fur to thin and fall out. He developed food allergies years ago and I tried several different brands of cat food that didn't work. Oliver ended up bald on his back and part of his tail. But now, after being on Spot's Stew for a month, his fur is starting to grow back. His eyes also seem to produce less discharge. He, along with my other 2 Devons and a Sphynx, are doing well on this food, and I'm very pleased. They weren't crazy about the taste at first, but they became accustomed to it and eat it without hesitation. :-) I will definitely continue using Spot's Stew. 07/30/2011
Best food for cats with urinary problems I have rescued 3 cats . Victor has a bad kidney problem. I have spent numerous amounts of money on Vet. visits .I always buy the top brand of food for him and the other cats. My Vet said the food made from grain was alot of the problem Grain products are the major cause of his problem. Since using Halo his problem seems to have disappeared. He and the other cats are very particular about the food they eat. All 3 love the Halo! Cat owners can save money in the long run with this product ,because you won't have the Vet Bills. and your Babies will be so much happier. 09/16/2010

    Q:
My cat became constipated after I (gradually) switched to a new food (they stopped making her old food). I switched to Purina pro plan for sensitive stomachs and her problem resolved, but I would prefer to feed her your food. Do you think it would keep her regular?

    A:
Because Spot's Stew formula contains probiotics and prebiotics, this product should help with your pet's regularity. If you switch to this food, remember to follow the instructions to introduce the new food gradually over a 7 to 10 day period of time.

    A:
2 of my 4 cats tend to eat quickly and also vomit. I asked my vet about it, and was told that it's due to sensitive systems and/or allergies rather than the speed at which they eat. Some cats just tend to puke more than others. My cats puked just as much eating the larger sized dental kibble as on the small. However, since I switched to Halo's Spot's Stew, there has been a marked decline in how often the 2 sensitive kitties vomit. That's because they are eating good quality food. 1 of them pukes about once a week now, and the other about once every 2 weeks. Before I switched to Halo's, it was almost daily.

My Sasha has both calcium and magnesium crystals in her urine along with a 1/2 cm calcium stone. Do you have any products that would help eliminate this problem?

    A:
Nettie, the most important “treatment” for cats with urinary tract problems is to increase daily water intake. Research has proven that urinary signs occur less often and are much less severe in cats that eat exclusively canned food. Current studies reveal no change in signs based on varying the magnesium or "ash" content of the food. Many veterinarians used to focus on the ash content of food for the prevention of crystal development, however, all leaders in this field now agree that diets intended to minimize the production of urinary crystals have no scientific rationale in the management of this condition. The best recommendation for cats with urinary issues is to increase their daily water intake. Try some of the following:

    * Feed exclusively canned food. This has been proven to be the most effective way to increase water intake in cats. When compared to many commercial canned cat foods, Halo canned cat foods have a very high moisture (water) content and are exceptionally well suited to cats with urinary problems.

    * Increase the frequency of feeding. Cats fed several times each day drink more than cats fed only one meal.

    * Add additional water or broth to your cat's food. If you have a cat that absolutely refuses canned food, adding water to dry food can be hugely beneficial.

    * Try ice cubes or ice chips as "treats"
Use unique water bowls or provide free flowing water fountains to stimulate your cat's interest in drinking.

In addition to increasing your cat's daily water intake, the feeding of a "pH neutral" diet that avoids extremes of urine pH were also proven to be of benefit. When cats eat a "natural" diet of rodents or other small prey, their urine pH will be in the region of 6.3. For best urinary health, it is best to maintain this pH and Halo foods were designed with this in mind.
