Cosequin Soft Chews contain glucosamine, which is a natural compound that is found in healthy cartilage in both humans and pets. It helps hydrate healthy joints by increasing the production of molecules that bind and hold water in the cartilage. Healthy cartilage provides cushioning which helps protect a pet's joints while exercising. Many believe that it provides clinical benefit in the synovial fluid by strengthening cartilage and aiding glycosaminoglycan synthesis. Further research on the effectiveness of glucosamine is still needed, but many of our customers find it to be very beneficial to their pets. The glucosamine is used in conjunction with sodium chondroitin sulfate, an important structural component of cartilage that provides much of its resistance to compression.

How this product should be used:The usual starting dose for the first 4 to 6 weeks for dogs 10-29 lbs is 1 Soft Chew once a day. For dogs 30-59 lbs give 2 capsules daily. For dogs 60-89 lbs give 3 Soft Chews daily, and for dogs 90-120 lbs give 4 Soft Chews daily. After 4-6 weeks the dose can be reduced to a maintenance level of 1 Soft Chew every other day for dogs 10-29 lbs. For dogs 30-59 lbs give 1 Soft Chew daily. For dogs 60-89 lbs give 1 or 2 Soft Chews daily, and for dogs 90-120 lb give 2 or 3 Soft Chews daily
What are the side effects: Side effects are rare but may include diarrhea.
What special precautions are there: This product is not intended to be used in place of other treatments in the presence of an infection or if surgery is needed. Glucosamine, in humans, may increase insulin resistance and consequently affect glucose tolerance. Diabetic dogs or dogs that are overweight and have problems with glucose tolerance should have their blood sugars monitored if they are given glucosamine supplements.
In the event of overdose: Overdose is not likely but may result in diarrhea.
How should I store this product: Store the container in a cool, dry area out of direct sunlight. Reseal closure after opening to ensure freshness. Keep out of the reach of children.

Miracle Product
My 12 year old shepard mix has had hip problems. I put her on 2 per day of Cosequin Soft Chews for 45 days (one package). WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! She is now on a maintance dose of 1 per day (should last 3 months). She loves the taste, thinks it's a treat.
