What is this product used for: Cosequin Equine Powder plays an
important role in maintaining optimal joint function. The superior quality ingredients in the
patented formula provide the raw materials that are essential for the synthesis of synovial
fluid and the major components of articular cartilage matrix.
Availability: Cosequin Equine Powder is a non-prescription (OTC)
product.
How this product should be used: The suggested initial dose for
an average horse is 3 level scoops AM and PM. For horses over 1,200 lbs use 4 level scoops AM
and PM. Overly large horses (warmbloods, draft breeds) may need 4 or 5 scoops AM and PM. The
initial administration period is 4 to 6 weeks. However, responses can be seen in as few as 2
weeks. After achieving a good response, the total daily amount can be reduced by 1 level scoop
each week. The suggested maintenance dose is 1 level scoop AM and PM for an average horse and 2
level scoops AM and PM for horses over 1,200 lbs. The amount can be increase at any time to
maintain the desired comfort level.
What are the side effects: Cosequin Equine Powder is very safe
to use. In addition, fungal and microbial tests are run on each batch of Cosequin to ensure
product is free of pathogens.
What special precautions are there: This product is for animal
use in equine species only. Cosequin Equine Powder can be top dressed on sweet feed. Add
a small amount of water or molasses to get the Cosequin to stick on dry feed. Cosequin Equine
Powder may also be administered orally. Mix Cosequin with a small amount of water or molasses
and dose orally with a syringe.
In the event of overdose: Acute oral toxicity tests have been
conducted indicating no oral toxicity. The tests indicated an LD-50 greater than 5gm/kg which
is the standard for nontoxic substances.
How should I store this product: Store the container at room
temperature. Keep out of the reach of children.
