My minature poodle scatched so much that he kept me awake at night. I tried everything. Benedryl did not even phase him...Finally my vet recommended Clemastine Antihistamine and finally some relief. He still licks his paws but the constant scratching and itching has stopped. If Benedryl does not work, try Clemastine.
i really can't give a proper evalaution because my cat would not eat the pill so i don't know if it would have worked or not,. i'm gonna try the syurp.

This seemed to help Skipper;s itching and biting some but not sure of the long term use. It does make him sleepy, which stops the biting etc.
This worked OK for my dog for TEMPORARY relief of symptoms. My dog licked and knawed himself RAW to the point of bleeding due to seasonal allergies. When he takes this the redness goes away (which is nice to get things under control) but he still itches, the same, but at least the inflamation goes away. Not great if you are looking for a cure, becasue by the time it's morning, the evening dose has worn off and it's as if you never even treated the poor guy. I would assume that for mild allergies it would work wonderfully if it was at least able to help my dog's severe alleriges a LITTLE bit
My dog Trixie did not respond to this product as I had hoped she would. She still scratches all the time and her skin is still reddened. Does anyone have any suggestions how to treat a Silky Terrier with seasonal skin allergies?
Clemastine is an effective antihistamine for all breeds. The advantage of clemastine is that it is not supposed to cause the same level of drowsiness as other antihistamines such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine).
