CET Chews
One of the most difficult conditions to try and treat is established periodontal disease in dogs and cats. This often affects greater than 70 percent of senior dogs and cats, and can lead to many systemic problems, including not only gum inflammation and tooth/root decay and oral pain leading to problems eating and drinking, but also problems elsewhere in the body including infections in the lungs/heart, liver and kidneys. That is why it is so important for we as veterinarians to stress to animal guardians the importance of regular preventative oral care and hygiene in their animal companions at home on a regular basis. In addition to brushing as frequently as possible during a typical week , I often stress how important it is, especially on those days where physical brushing is not possible, the use of these wonderful CET oral hygiene chews by Virbac. The duel enzymatic effect of these very tasty chewies helps with not only breakdown and prevention of plaque buildup, but also the buildup of potentially harmful bacteria in our pets' mouths, which can lead to bad breath, tooth decay and infections elsewhere in the body. I usually tell clients to give these chews on those days where it is not possible to brush with a great tooth paste like the CET toothpaste. Pets seem to love the taste of these flavored chews, as well as I have not seen any side effects in my many years of use. It is therefore that I highly recommend these wonderful chews as part of a comprehensive preventative dental program in our dogs. I give these chews an overall rating of a 5, with an effectiveness of a 4.5, and ease of use a 5.

Great product
Our Tibetarn Terrier rescue had a decayed molar removed by her vet. We believe her teeth may have been affected by her earlier life, and by having lived as a stray for several months (poor nutrition) from a young age. The vet recommended we try these chews, and since then her teeth & gums have been healthy. No loose teeth, they look white & clean, and her breath is sweet. She loves these chews - they are the highlight of her day. She is an aggressive chewer. She inhales hers, unless it's one of the thick "shoe leathery" ones. These chews don't make her sick to her stomach either, as the raw hide ones have done in the past (no more of those!). Highly recommend this product.

Finally!
I have a 10 year old Sheltie that will not chew on anything! I decided to give these a try when I placed an order for something else, and was shocked that she chews them! She had an expensive dental last year and I am trying to avoid that in the future, so hopefully these will help. I do not know what makes them appealing to her, but I am glad we found them.

Our Australian Shepherd is around 65 lbs and we have been feeding her these large treats for some time. She will do anything for one of these and just loves them. She is 8 years old and her teeth have some tarter build up but her breath smells good so I think they are helping her teeth stay clean.
Highly recommend these treats!!

Good, but not the miracle I hoped
My dogs are SO picky with chews and their teeth are SO bad!! They hate chewing on anything...well the bichon-poo likes chewing on cardboard, the yorkie likes anything small. These are long and flat, they don't really have a smell, and my dogs aren't all that interested in them. Granted, they DO eat them, but I have to throw them on the floor and let them eat them when they feel like, not like other treats (that are bad for them lol). My yorkie actually eats them too which is amazing, but only when she feels like it, I have yet to find a dental treat that they get excited about. I have noticed some difference in plaque, but I've also been alternating with a nylabone dental chew AND foaming mouth spray that is supposed to help tartar.

AnswersAnswer:Â We have fed our large dog these over a number of years and no side affects. I highly recommend them for dental care and our dog loves them.Answer:Â Hi there, The studies that were done were for one chew daily so it would not be harmful however, as always, any use of something long term, you definitely want to consult your vet because he would have the history of any issues with your Furry Child and he would give you the best medical opinion.
My toy poodle doesn't chew anything hard because of her overbite and a few missing teeth. I ordered these thinking they were chewy, is it possible to soften them a little so my little one will use these?
