What are the side effects: When collar is first worn, observe neck area every few days for irritation. Remove collar at first sign of irritation or adverse reaction. Sensitivities may occur after using any pesticide product for pets. If signs of sensitivity occur, remove collar and bathe dog/puppy with mild soap and rinse with large amounts of water.
What special precautions are there: Read entire label before each use. For animals, consult a veterinarian before using this product on debilitated, aged, pregnant, medicated, or nursing animals. Do not use on dogs/puppies less than 12 weeks of age. Do not use this product on dogs/puppies simultaneously or within 30 days before or after treatment with or exposure to cholinesterase inhibiting drugs or pesticides (e.g. carbaryl or tetrachlorvinphos, etc.). For humans, do not get dust or collar in mouth. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Do not open package until ready to use. Do not allow children to play with collar. I dont have any issues with the collar, seems to be working fine, but the Flea Killing spray I purchased with the collar I didn't care for much. It left Mollie with a horrible odor, stunk up my entire house, like never got rid of the smell. And yes, I did follow the directions on the bottle to the letter.
I read all the reviews on the product before I bought it and it just seemed like it would be a hit and miss type of product. I decided to try it because it was so inexpensive and I thought, "If it doesn't work I didn't waste much money...". Our dog had some problems with ticks before this product and we have not had a single problem with them since. We are about to put the second collar on him- so he has had his first on for 5 months now and that's 5 months of being tick free! We have an infant son and were a little concerned about residue coming off so we took his regular collar off, put this one on and then put his regular collar on over it and we never see the flea and tick collar. It may not work for everyone but it definitely worked for us!
The Bio Spot flea collar put on my dog has not been very effective. It was used in conjuction with the Advantage product. There were still live fleas a couple of weeks later.
I bought this for all three of our dogs. One pug, one doberman, and one lab! We bathed all of them first in order to kill any alive ones. Now they are still scratching. It basically does nothing. Also, the label says it contains an ingredient that is known to cause cancer!
These collars seem to be working pretty well. I have still found a couple of fleas here and there but they all spend alot of time outdoors. But EVERY tick that they had on them I found DEAD within a couple of days. So FAR........so GOOD! THANKS!
Unfortunately, my neighbor must have mistook Dot for a small deer and killed her... I found her body the very day the collar came in the mail... we are in the process of looking for a new dog... we will likely use the collar to make two collars for the two adult cats we have... thanks for following up on my purchase.
The fact that there was a *Caution* and we could have health issues scared me, I don't want to think that I could get ill If I forget to wash my hands or wear gloves after I put it on my dog.
